This was such a fun book!

Black Witch Magic is about a witch and paranormal investigator falling in love. When Aiden comes to Brimrock to investigate Selene’s grandmother, a fabled witch who haunts the town, she knows she must stop him. However, there’s sparks between them that can’t be denied. Neither expects to fall under each other’s spell, but sometimes love is supernatural.

I loved the plot of this book! I thought it was super fun. The paranormal investigation show that Aiden’s a part of gave me big Buzzfeed Unsolved vibes.

I really liked the characters. Selene’s quiet and bookish and dreams of having adventures. Aiden’s also socially awkward and would rather spend his nights curled up in bed with a book or doing research. Both persons are really similar but it was so cute watching these nerds fall in love. Their dynamic was adorable and sweet and they definitely had me melting at times. The one thing that I wasn’t a big fan of is the fact that their relationship felt a little instalovey but it wasn’t too hard for me to overlook that.

The writing was easy to get through and I ended up finishing this one pretty quickly. There were some dialogue choices that I wasn’t really a big fan of though. I couldn’t help but think no one talks like this

Overall though, this was a little wild and very fun. I loved the cozy atmosphere and the little mystery element. I definitely had a good time with it.

Black Witch Magic was a fun paranormal romance book centered around Christmas time which was refreshing because you would probably expect it to be Halloweenish. I initially did and I was pleasantly surprised.

Selene Selene Blackstone, a curvy Black girl, is a very likable character. She is cursed and not able to leave the town, she has to deal with the town´s gossip, yet she remains a strong independent woman. She works as a small-town librarian, owns a terrier names Yuki, does magic at home and tries to date.

I loved the scene where she met Aiden O'Hare, a paranormal investigator who actually does not believe in the paranormal and plays a skeptic in his and his friend´s show on YouTV channel. He does not know she is a witch, but secretly investigates her for their new episodes. The two keep meeting to investigate what happened to the two men in town, one of them being Selene´s date who has not arrived.

I liked their interactions and I would gladly have more of them and more of the magic and details about the curse. I would love to read about more rituals and magic happening. I loved this aspect. It reminded me the times when I was 13-16 and watched Charmed. Plus I feel like there are stuff that need to be further developed and explained in the next book.

It was very easy to read. The pages were flying in front of my eyes. I enjoyed it.

There's a warning at the beginning of this book, yet it was not THAT spicy. There is some spice but I expected more hot scenes and swearing. So have that in mind.

This book was a quick and cute read! It spans across the holidays so it's perfect to read in autumn and winter. I really enjoyed the storyline of the heroine being a witch and the hero being a paranormal investigator, it felt very original to me.

I enjoyed Aiden and Selene's relationship, they kept a healthy mix of snarky and flirty toward each other, which I enjoy.

I really Loved Noelle's character and the friendship her and Selene have together. Noelle is the hype friend that everyone needs. I really enjoyed how she challenged Selene, looked out for her best interest, and always had her back.

Selene was a strong character, but still had a lot of self doubt and fears. For her whole life she dealt with judgment and unnaceptance from others, yet held her head high as best she could. I found her to be very relatable. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

If you like witchy women, mystery, romance, and strong characters then give this a read!

This book was a delight!
Selene was such a real woman. She knows people don't like her, and she just goes about her daily life with the people she considers family. She is strong, determined, and passionate. Her love for books was so easy to relate to. It was beautiful to see her falling for Aiden even when she thought it wouldn't work out.
Aiden was such a cute guy. He is the ultimate good guy and also a red-headed. Do you know when you wish you could find a good guy among all the bad? That is Aiden. His family situation is non-existent, so he travels to Brimrock with Eddie, his best friend, and stays with his family that, let's just say, is a little too much. He is attracted to Selene from the start and when he finds out her secret, he does everything he can for her.
The side characters were great and their end was left open. Noelle, Selene's best friend, just goes along with every crazy plan Selene has and I laugh so much with her. Eddie, on the other hand, was not my favorite. He never tried to get to know Selene and just went along with everybody's opinion of her.
The magical element was easy to understand and we learned a lot along with Selene. The overall plot was very interesting and I was not expecting the ending to be the way it was, and it was a great way to end a book. Looking forward to the next one!

Selene Blackstone is a witch, a lunar witch, aside from getting her power from the moon she has also inherited her grandmothers curse – she cannot fall in love nor can she leave the small town of Brimrock, a town full of people determined to blame her for everything unusual that occurs. Aiden O’Hare is the sarcastic skeptic in a social media duo that explores paranormal activities. When a blind date is found mysteriously comatose Selene finds herself under scrutiny.

I really liked the characters, they were well fleshed out and had distinct qualities that fit with their circumstances and personality. Having two introverted MC’s warmed my introverted heart and I liked that their interactions weren’t perfect, they had awkward moments and occasionally said things they regretted. I also appreciated the fact that the story focused on the people of Brimrock, especially how they treated Selene, Selene’s powers and the link to her grandmother more so than the romance. When Aiden stood by her side and agreed to help her clear her name and refused to use her family to make a show, to me that was more romantic than any steamy scene. When Selene risked exposing herself to save his life and allowed herself to give him a chance despite previous experience, I squealed with delight.

The only reason I’m not rating this higher is because sometimes I got bored and would skim a bit. I also skipped ahead to find out who the Big Bad was before going back and reading the parts I missed. I did not expect the Big Bad to be who it was, both the identity of the person and who they represent in the entire scheme of things. I wish the story had focused more on that aspect of the story; maybe added a few more victims or showed us the attacks on the previous ones or even showed us the attacks on the two victims as well as the effects on the Big Bad after they have fed.

3/5 – Good story, I just wished it was more mystery and paranormal and less romance.

Very well written and fun story. I enjoyed the paranormal aspects. I look forward to reading the other books in the series and will check out other books by Mila Nicks. It was an exciting, fun, interesting story that had complex themes, an interesting plot-line that kept things moving and flawed but likeable main characters. The premise is interesting and well executed. Definitely, an interesting romance that is more than just a romance.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Black Witch Magic is another charming interracial romance from Mila Nicks, showing her aptitude for slipping between subgenres and styles with ease.

The characters are quirky and fun, and I love their interactions. I liked Aiden and Selene’s dynamic as paranormal investigator/skeptic and witch, respectively. There’s awkwardness, and there were challenges caused by who Selene is, but I liked how their relationship unfolded in the wake of all of these.

I also liked that both had such solid friendships, Aiden with Eddie, who is a more firm believer in the paranormal, and Selene with fellow witch Noelle.

There are some cliche moments, but I found them almost charming in light of the style being a more lighthearted paranormal romance.

This is a wonderfully original, delightful book with a delightful mix of genres. And while it releases in time for Halloween/Samhain and presents that theme, it’s set around Christmas and Yule, making it the perfect read for the holidays, whichever you observe.
