I really enjoyed this sequel, though I thought at times it was slow in pace. But I can’t wait to read the last book because of the events that occurred in this one. Sadly though, I can’t find a copy of the third book on Libby or at my local Library.

The plot is more slow and tedious than in the first book, with not enough tie-in for the twists that happen towards the end.

The main characters both felt more flat than in the first book as well.

Not really interested in the third one as I lost interest in the main characters over the course of the book.

I liked seeing Kunal learn about his gift. I like seeing Kunal and Esha have moments together. I like seeing trials. I like that we’re on a mission to find the missing princess. But those things are super far and few in between. There are a lot of chess pieces on the board in this book and it’s hard to keep everything straight. I hate the triangle of Esha, Kunal, and the Prince - seems useless. I hate the secrets Esha is keeping and how her need for vengeance Salvatore’s her team consistently. I hate the focus on Kunal’s old friend, because he gives only questions and answers nothing. A lot of the scheming is missed and confusing because it’s only told after the fact. Esha reminds me a lot of Aelin (Throne of Glass) and that’s not a compliment. She was badass until she got a boyfriend and then she turned into a b*tch baby; she lost her fire. And I do really like Kunal’s character but he’s so easily manipulated. This book didn’t read as its own entity, its obviously just a bridge book and I didn’t enjoy enough of it. The stuff I loved in the first book is almost entirely gone. Not sure if I’ll finish the series.

This was a good sequel to follow up the Tiger at Midnight. The character interactions and dialogue flows seamlessly and Teerdhala does an amazing job with setting up a scene with vibrant descriptions. We see more advancement in Esha and Kunal's relationship, and just how tangled it gets when they start keeping secrets from each other. Each think they're doing it for the other's good but folks, open communication in relationships is how you solve problems TOGETHER.

Compared to the first book this one was a little less action packed, and leaned more towards political intrigue which my head empty self finds a drag but it all came together nicely at the end. There are twists and reveals that happen that, if you pick up on the hints Teerdhala drops, are predictable but like in a way that it makes you feels good to be right.

This book did not improve upon the first book in any way. It was as predictable and flat as the first one but perhaps even more so; having finished it mere hours ago I’ve already forgotten most of the book and cannot recall large parts of it. The ending felt confused and emotional reactions unrealistic. But it moved along at a good pace and while I was reading it I enjoyed it well enough. I’m left feeling a bit unsettled, as I often do when the next book in a series is unavailable to me so I am glad the final in the trilogy will be released only a couple of months from now. I’ll look forward to reading it now that I’ve released any expectations I had before reading the first book of quality writing or storytelling and will enjoy the fluffy conclusion to be trilogy for the mindless and largely predictable entertainment it is.

This was an extremely enjoyable second installment of the story, and I can't wait for the 3rd and final volume. I couldn't stop reading for the last quarter of the book, and stayed up way too late to finish it. Though I saw some of the twists coming, some of them took me by surprise, which is very enjoyable for me. I am personally not a huge fan of the love triangle trope, so the flip flop of Esha's feelings between Kunal and Harun is just frustrating for me. I also had a little bit of issue with Kunal's indecision in telling Esha about the his dealings with Laksh. I think that his sense of duty would have made him feel on our bound to tell her, so I don't think his neglect to do so fit well with his character.
