This book offers a strong perspective of how our negative thinking can warp our reality.

Cute read, I enjoyed the tarot chapters and parallels even though some of it went over my head. I thought the pacing between past and present could have been more balanced, and the resolution felt too easy. The main conflict hinted at throughout the book was revealed and resolved way too quickly for the time it took to get there.

I have really mixed feelings about this book. I like the set up with the tarot card chapters interspersed throughout the story. But I hate the main character. I don’t know if it’s because she’s a teenager or what, but her view on relationships and
being in a relationship with Pix magically curing her pot addiction
feels so toxic.

This book was a lot more depressing than I expected. A lot of the problems I had with it could be attributed to the imbalance of what I thought the book would be like and what it actually ended up being. I just don’t have the mental capacity right now for the kinds of heavy topics it introduced, which is why I didn’t finish it.

The plot of Improbable Magic is pretty thin and the magic is very secondary to the plot (and not really discussed or engaged in by the main character, outside of some tarot). It’s ok, but not great.
