It was light, quick and fun. The authors invite you to laugh at in jokes with them while they have lots of fun making them. The start was a bit rough, but it settled in by the time they got to the swamp.

Plus a dragon who is not poisonous.

Overall, an easy fantastical romp that starts with a wrongly imprisoned prince, a reluctant hero who grows a heart, and an eclectic cast to round out an adventure to right some grievances.

If imitation is the best form of flattery, then regardless of whether the author actually has read Klune, I liken this to “Tales of Verania” lite - complete with above mentioned quest, a giant (in the form of an orc), a dragon, and all sorts of silly shenanigans that ultimately ends with found family. Enjoy!

Read this based on my friend Mouse's review and glad I did! It was a delight and a great fun little break. Easy quick read, fun, lighthearted, cute, and ended up with a bit more feeling and soul than I expected. Nice!

Dave the orc is my favorite character so I'm pleased to see he has his own book!

The only thing I can really complain about is that I didn't love some of the humor or some of Scott's stuff but that's more subjective.

You know what's hilarious? I thought I was going to be reading a sweet YA book for a change of pace from my normal *spice*. HAHAHAHAHA. If you also think this, THINK AGAIN. This book is Adult. I'm not in any way knocking it. That's my bread and butter. However, I'm just putting that out there. Adult language, situations, jokes, innuendo, etc. This book is great and I loved it. I listened to the audio and the narrator was excellent, as well.

What a BLAST!

I pretty much read this start to finish without putting it down. I’d been looking forward to it from the first teaser, and it didn’t let me down. Lots of hilarity, and the addition at the end was just the icing on the cake.

**edited to add that listening to this is EVEN BETTER omg**
