Quick Synopsis
Ernest Cunningham has been invited to partithenarrator’ster’s festival on the Ghan, a luxury train that travels from Darwin to Adelaide. He is there to round out a panel that includes forensic, legal, psychological and literary writers. Together they could solve a murder…or cover one up.
Thoughts
I appreciate Stevenson’s tongue-in-cheek approach to the mystery genre. I spend as much time laughing out loud and thenarrator’s insights as I do gasping when a plot point is revealed.

This first-person mystery was a fitting follow-up to the first Ernest Cunningham novel. It kept the same humor and fourth-wall breaking that I loved in the original, while introducing a cast of mystery writers that gave the whole story a real Clue/whodunit vibe.
such a joy to read, i devoured almost the entire book in 2 days because i literally couldn't put it down. also, i loved the meta writing style with all the 4th wall breaks bc it made things feel so much more immersive. a lot of the twists were surprising, but i managed to figure out a few things on my own too 🙂↕️🙂↕️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars
I love the way this series is written, it's almost meta. It's just a fun and interesting way to read a mystery. Makes it hard to put down. It feels so cozy and intimate. I really like the way the mystery slowly comes together. Being a close door mystery, there are only so many people it could be, but it still managed to surprise me. The ending was so crazy.
I really love this series and I hope for more. I can't wait to read the novella but it set at Christmas time.
