I wasn’t super engaged with the earlier part of the book but i eventually locked it. The storyline jumped around a bit when made it difficult for me to follow along bc I was not engaged at first. But the stories of the women were weaved together and I found them interesting. I could not really relate to anybody but Temi. Also, I’m pro bum bum surgery so I’m not sure if the message I took from this is what was intended lol

This was an enjoyable read. Too surface level sometimes but a good breeze read.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5. The book is definitely about more than what the premise implies, it’s not just about Temi and her quest to have a BBL. It’s also about the women in her life and all they have been through that makes them who they are today, and in turn sort of helps to form their perspective on what she wants to do. It’s more serious and somber in places than I expected, but overall it was a funny, quick, entertaining read that I couldn’t put down till I was finished. There’s quite a bit of back and forth in terms of timeline, but it’s very well done and really adds well to the perspective of who everyone is today. Very relatable for anyone that grew up in Nigeria or a world in general where women are judged by their bodies.

This book was so fun and enjoyable. Temi wants nothing more than a BBL on account of her extremely tiny yansh. But when she drops this desire in conversation just after her father's funeral, what follows is an eruption of family secrets: why she and her sister look so different, why her aunt is so religious, what happened to her sister in Lagos, why she fled the safety, and more.

The cast of characters is so diverse and the way they manage their life's problems is so different. At the end, we're left with an unresolved question: who are we and our desires if we are not made from other people?
