Lots of jumping around to so many different story lines and people, which is distracting, but overall good content.

I absolutely loved this story! I feel I learned more than I ever knew I needed to about running, donkeys, the physical and emotional benefits of animals, mental health, and the Amish culture.

One of my favorite books from my 2019 list. Who knew that mountain running with donkeys was even a think? I found this heartwarming and completely delightful. Really recommend it, especially for anyone needing a feel-good read right now. (I listened to the audiobook, which was great).

I enjoyed the trials and trails of donkey recovery and running. Learning about burro running was interesting too. As a marathon runner, triathlete, distance swimmer and ultra runner, finding an event I haven't tried yet, got me thinking...

Absolutely loved this story. So many people and experiences all rolled in that it's hard to recap anything: horders, weird dating beliefs, Amish culture, animal husbandry at it's finest, neurodiversity, wild women doing impossible feats, red/blue divisions overcome by kindness, hysterical goats, and of course, donkeys.
I recommend the audiobook, but beware: it'll make your heart burst and the tears start stream without warning.

I loved this book and have added a few things to my ever growing bucket list...namely, running the Bird in Hand half marathon and being a spectator at a burro racing event in Colorado. I don't know how you read this book and don't love Sherman, or all donkeys from this point forward. Great job, Chris McDougall!

Such a fun book to read. Full of warmth and determination, the power of having a purpose and a community to belong too. Just a joyful read.

Similar to other Christopher McDougall books, jumps around with vignettes on various subjects along the lines of a greater story. At times preachy about the "right" way to think, run, etc, but entertaining.
