I was surprised by this book! The structure took a while to get used to, as sometimes it jumps around suddenly and that I didn't enjoy. I had to give up the audiobook because it was confusing (aren't we lucky to have libraries??).
Some parts confirmed that even just the idea of entering a cave fills me with terror. So I appreciate discovering these places from the safety of my home.

It's an interesting exploration of what's beneath us, from historical caves to modern labs, from limestone to ice passing via the Paris catacombs. Fascinating journey and the writing is very evocative, it paints pictures.

A brilliant exploration of aspects of this planet most of us never get to see. Some descriptions not the caving made me feel so very claustrophobic and I am glad that Robert wrote about this, so I never have to push myself through a narrow aperture in which I cannot move at all, other than forward. Robert Macfarlane writes with love and affection for his subject and it was a pleasure to be exported around the world and underground (on into a hole in an glacier) through the power of his work.

Such a fascinating read! So many intriguing new points of discovery. An amazing job was made taking a nonfiction, informative novel and pairing it with an entertaining narrative.
