I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I've only read one other Alex Finlay. This was kind of a little hard to follow at times with several different perspectives as well as time jumps. I don't dislike that trope, but this book didn't execute it well.

One night 5 foster siblings stand over a grave and ask themselves, “What have we done?” Years later, one of the friends is dead, and the others have had their lives targeted. Each do their part trying to figure out why now, and wondering if it’s connected to their big secret.

This was my first by the author and I did not enjoy it. It was firmly at a 3 stars for most of the reading experience, but the ending brought it down to a two. I did like how short the chapters are, it made the story go by quickly with the different POVs. This story was equally too confusing and convoluted and too simple. I didn’t expect the twists, but they were lacklustre and made the entire story feel unnecessary because it wasn’t a huge reveal. I liked Jenna’s character but too much of her backstory was unexplained, it just didn’t feel real. On the other hand, I got too much backstory for Nico and Donnie. The story is fairly sad, but I didn’t feel any thrill or mystery reading it. It was boring and too long, I was excited for it to be over. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

The assassin aspect is a bit unbelievable, but that's what I like about thrillers/suspense! I will be recommending this to patrons who like Freida McFadden and Jeneva Rose.

Thank you NetGalley and St Martins Press for allowing me to read this early. I was SO excited to see i was approved for this one. I loved the night shift and read this as soon as i was able to.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5. It was different than the night shift. Less thriller and more action/mystery. Think Kill Bill with Mick Riva as a character. I thought all of the characters were interesting. I was sucked in from the beginning. I loved the short chapters.

Being from Delaware County, going to university in Chester, It was weird to me trying to place this all going on there. But that’s just a me thing since I’m from the area. Another great book i read in only 2 sittings and can’t wait for everyone else to be able to read It!

I’m 0/3 for Alex Finley books and won’t be picking up any others. The synopsis always sounds so interesting but the execution is not.
