Confusing. Incoherent. Nonsense.
Quite ironic that the only thing that makes sense in this thing is its synopsis. The “story”, if I can even call it a story, is about a dad and his two sons dealing with grief over the death of his wife. There’s also a talking crow who spouts a string of nonsense and random sounds. Not sure if I completely missed the message but this is just bad.

Not sure I fully understand the crow sections, but I did find some of them quite entertaining. The last part of the book really punched me in the gut though. In the end. I think I was ready to feel it rather than understand it, which really made me appreciate it more.

A short but beautiful, sad and poignant read. Loved the way you get such a vivid portrait of the family from so few pages.

A vibrant, relatable and poetic depiction of grief. One which will be essential to revisit when I inevitably experience loss again, especially for a family member. The writing style suits me as its short paragraphs and pages, sometimes reading like poetry or a play but flowing beautifully. I didn’t understand some of what was said but also think that didn’t limit how the novel made me feel. If anything, I think it helped to capture how unique grief is for individuals, and how these different experiences are not easy for outsiders to gauge.
