What can I say? Very Perrotta-esque.

Nine Inches is the best book of short stories I have encountered. Perotta created great characters and tales throughout the collection. Highly recommended reading.

One of my problems with reading short stories is that I sometimes feel they end without a complete thought, and I'm left wanting more, in a frustrating way. These were not those stories - I found each to be completely whole and entirely well-written. I suppose it might be too much to ask for more optimisic endings to the stories (though I think the collection as a whole ended on such a note), but I know that that's not always how life goes. Regardless, I sense more Tom Perrotta books in my future.

This was a nice change of pace. Well written, and a quick read. However, I kept expecting the stories to have a twist to them, not really sure why.

I love Tom Perrotta as an author. Whether he writes a novel or short stories, he always seems to develop his characters in just the right way. This is a good thing with short stories because as I kept reading each story, I wanted to know more (what happened to them after the story was over).

Definitely a book of short stories worth reading.

It is difficult for an author to write a set of short stories that is universally appealing to a reader. While I enjoy short story collections, I usually only really like 25% of the short stories in them.

This was the exception. I really enjoyed all of these stories. Are they uplifting? No. They center on average people's loneliness and/or regrets in life with an existential bent. But they are honest and earnest glimmers into the lives that we often want to learn about. I am the type of person who wanders by someone and wonders about how his or her life has been shaped, and I find this collection very satisfying in quenching that curiosity.

Simple ang mga kuwento ni Tom Perotta, hindi ma-gimmick ang kaniyang writing style. Sincere. Gayunman, sapat ito to keep you interested.

Karaniwang tungkol sa High School sa US ang mga kuwento rito, ang iba naman ay tungkol sa karanasan ng mga taong divorced. Karamihan sa mga karakter niya ay flawed — ito ang susundan mo sa kaniyang mga kuwento.

Solidly readable but ultimately forgettable. I like Perrotta, but about 2/3's in I just started feeling like I'd had enough of his brand of suburban ennui. I like him better as a novelist.
