4⭐️ Ok, hear me out, I thought this was a solid first novel. I’m realizing while pulling up this book to review that this author actually has an extensive collection of books they’ve written. I’m less impressed by what I just read. It was good. I thought the banter was strange. It’s like we were missing information or something. It kind of felt like lines were coming out of no where.
At the same time, I really enjoyed it! I thought it really made you feel and was an emotional ride.

3.75⭐️ rounded to 4 here! I downloaded this audiobook after getting the ALC for book two in this series! Although I wish I would have read it instead of listening, I ended up really enjoying the story!
This follows Conor & Harlow, & they do not like each other. With some family drama in their pasts, they have good reason to ignore the other—but when Harlow needs some help training for a marathon, Conor somehow gets roped into it. As things progress they realize that maybe there is more to the other than they thought.
The story of this was so good. I thought it was unique and fresh compared to other romances I’ve read. The hockey star turned obsessed over a girl trope gets a little old, but I mean I really couldn’t complain. I loved the banter & the enemies to lovers while also getting good backstories.
The audiobook for this however was atrocious. Neither narrator was good. The male narrator reminded me of Alvin & the Chipmunks but is supposed to be the hot shot hockey player & every “S” sound the female made slithered. It was alllll soo off putting. If I wouldn’t have had the ALC of book 2 to get to I would have dnf’d the audiobook & read it on my kindle.

A hockey romance, enemies to lovers.
Story was cute, a bit of angst, with a bit of spice.
