Sometimes it’s a little over dramatic and the main characters do fall in love quickly.
But it’s a cute and easy love story for in between.

I picked this book up as a blind date with a book and it greatly surpassed my expectations.
I’m a SUCKER for a good enemies to lovers romance, but there’s something about the way Conor and Harlow are tied together before they even really interact that truly dragged me in. From the very beginning I wanted to know what their history was, and from there I was hooked. I was determined to know Conor’s side of the story and I loved how it was revealed slowly but not in a way that dragged on.
I also sympathize with Harlow a lot. While I didn’t lose both my parents by a drunk driver, I do know what it’s like to lose a parent. I love that a marathon for the cause of her parents death was what brought the two together, even if Harlow didn’t reveal that at first. I do wish that we got to see the marathon in the end though, either in just one more chapter or the epilogue. Did Conor run it with her? Did Harlow finish it?
Conor Hart is SUCH a good character. He lives with his trauma in way that doesn’t dictate his life and doesn’t play the “woe is me” or “damaged” boy which I love. He own his personality, and apologizes when he’s a dick.
Harlow is also a super likable character. I also wish I got just a little more of her love for water in the book, especially with how many hockey heavy scenes there were. I also love how she doesn’t fill the roll of “damaged” either, especially considering her past trauma.
Another thing I wish I got more of was Landon and Conor interactions. I REALLY wanted those two to end up buds.
The spice level in this book was JUST RIGHT. There was enough to make it light and fun, but not too much that it took away from the plot. The majority of the story was really very focused on their relationship and individual characters. That study room scene did have me squealing though
