I have really loved the other books in the series so it feels re a lly disappointing to rate one under a 4 but it is still a pretty good book.
The characters were fun and the plot had great action. I loved that it was sort of a heist novel.
But it had slow parts and honestly there wasn't enough time to let tension build. What is the point of a chastity dare if you don't get tension!
Should have been 2 books imo

I devoured this book!! Nikki Sloane takes us back to a world of wealth, blackmail, greed and revenge with The Temptation, the fifth book in the incredible Filthy Rich Americans series.
I loved this book and these characters especially. Vance Hale and Emery Mendenhall are perfection. Out of the three couples in this series, I think they have the strongest connection. Brought together by the disappearance of their friend Jillian - who we met in the previous books, it was evident early on how well they worked together. Their relationship started out fake, using each other to get what they wanted. But, it quickly turned into something real and impenetrable. Their chemistry was off the charts.
I didn’t know what to think about Vance at first. Besides the affair with his stepmother, we really didn’t see much of him in the other books. After this book, I couldn’t love him more. He doesn’t seem as ruthless or evil as the other Hale men. That’s not to say he won’t do what it takes to “win at all cost.” I don’t know. I'm just incredibly attracted to him.
The sexual tension in this book is top notch. Created by an instant connection, forced proximity and a 90 day celibacy vow...my God!... it absolutely elevated the story. It was almost hotter because Vance and Emery couldn’t have sex. Vance’s creativity and imagination deserves a standing ovation.
This book had a different vibe than the rest of the books in the series. I feel like it was less twisted and scandalous and focused more on the romance. Honestly, I think that’s what made me enjoy it more.
If you're looking for a captivating romance full of secrets, delicious tension, a charming reformed playboy and a badass safecracking heroine, you need to read The Temptation immediately. It can be read as a standalone but I would advise on reading the other books to get the full experience

Vance Hale I've been waiting for his book. This is a fabulous addition to this series. Very much enjoyed this book
"What would you do to me if you could?"
"I think if you'd let me, I might love you."
Wow, I totally did not expect to like this book THIS much. This book has proven that Royce IS the least interesting Hale man. Vance and Emery's chemistry is off the charts here! It's really interesting to see how their relationship developed from the beginning to the end. Even though the insta-lust can be quite off-putting for me, but overall I love reading about them. The fake dating and friends-to-lovers tropes also adds to the charm. The Temptation might be the least intense one out of all the books in this series, but it feels like a breath of fresh air. All in all, I can't believe I have to say goodbye to this series and I wish I could read more about Cape Hill shenanigans
