*Check triggers before reading*
I need to admit something that's polarizing. I read the last page of a book before I start it (I know 😬) AND sometimes I skim/spot read a new book because I'm impatient. I never count a book completed until I read every word. When I went to work on this review, I realized I didn't have much highlighted because I only did a spot read when it was released. So I made this book my first read of 2022 and it was perfect 😍
I loved Vance and Emery. They had a connection from the beginning that grew as they worked together. I enjoyed how they built trust and were open about their feelings. Their partnership was cute and I loved that they consistently referred to the importance of working as a team. Also, they are hot together. The safe scene 👀🥵
I wasn't sure what to expect with Vance because we only got glimpses of him in the other books. Much like Royce, he surprised me with who he was as a character and I enjoyed him. I found him to be intriguing and I liked getting his perspective on the events that took place in the other books. My favorite thing about him was how much he supported Emery and I just loved how he fell for her 🥰
I love love love Emery. Sophia is my favorite from this series, but I adore Emery as well. Her brain is incredible, I laughed watching her "steal" from Vance, and she was strong in what she wanted. I felt connected to her throughout the story and she reminded me of Marist with how much she cared for Vance.
