Read this because my nieces love the series.  Definitely a fun middle grade series with all of the good things: Magic school, mysteries, and adventure!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. EHRMAGERD. Never in a million years did I think that I would love a series starring elves, but here I am. I finally took my students’ recommendation and started this series, and I cannot recommend it enough. Sophie can hear people’s thoughts, but has no idea that she is actually an elf in the human world until she is tracked down on a school trip and taken to Atlantis (yes, it is real and it is glorious). She learns that there is a huge mystery surrounding her existence, and that she is powerful beyond measure.

I think that Sophie is a bit too much of a self-insert. She’s blonde- like Shanon- she tugs at her eyelashes when she’s nervous- like Shanon.

Keeper of the Lost Cities is a perfect book for its target age-group (ages 8-12, grades 3-7) and I did enjoy reading this first Keeper's novel and will be eagerly awaiting the sequel after the last third of the book, but I know I would have enjoyed this more were I younger.

*sigh* I guess we do actually grow up a little, even when we still read MG and YA novels religiously. That makes me sad.
