Gentility is completely unrelatable to me. And yet that’s maybe the point? I feel like I need more context, and probably more Keira Knightley, to help me catch the satire of Austen’s writing. And yet I’ll acknowledge the universality of the relational struggles they experience. How tricky is love! Don’t we know it in our modern age!

Austen’s undeniably got some writing chops. Her vocabulary is astounding, and she’s brilliantly sarcastic. And yet I’d also love to hear more from those who really love this book about why they see it as a classic. I believe this is a work I could appreciate with more depth, if only I had more knowledge.

Overall, really tough start but heated up about 80 pages in. Kinda disappointed everything turned out so nicely—but maybe that’s my bias against wealthy people and their opining about how hard life is when all they do is eat multi-course meals, play cards, and go on walks through the gardens

My second attempt at trying to get through pride and prejudice and it’s just not for me. It’s so boring. It’s literally just rich people visiting richer people.
