Things escalate quickly when Batman feels like isn't enough for Gotham. It was a good arc that didn't include the usual rogues. Kind of a prequel to Knightfall.

This may not be the most well written Batman story. But, it sure is one of my favorites. The best Batman stories are when Bruce is shown to be all-too-human, desperate in his obsessions to save people from death at any cost. Alfred's love for Bruce is written damn well.

The evil doctor being a one off character for this volume is a HUGE shame to me. With how creepy his dialogue was and how compelling his manipulation, I was hoping he'd have popped up again in a few issues over the years, but I suppose
Spoiler dead is dead with this one.

I've started the Knightfall series now :') Poor Bruce.

Thought provoking. Good take on how Batman would cope with the temptations around him, not having powers and having to find strength somewhere. Not my favorite art.

Have you ever been super excited to read something? You read a snippet of description, you see the author, you get your favourite snacks and drinks and you get ready to lose yourself in a fantastic story and then... It's shit. That was exactly my experience with this book. Everytime I look at this book I think about what it could have been.

This story had all the makings to be fantastic. I mean it's friggin' Denny O'Neil! A man who championed the 'Legends of the Dark Knight- a series filled with gritty and dark stories. On the surface this story seemed to offer an exploration into the mental breaking of Batman but all we got was long hair and a Great White knockout.

Don't get me wrong. It's iconic. This story preceded Bane and we're left to assume that the mysterious steroid pill was the first display of Titan before Bane made it trendy. It's one of the earliest examples of Batman truly breaking and while it does have a genuine redemption arc and teaches Batman about failure it could have been done SO MUCH BETTER.

+Titan
+Breaking of the Bat
-Everything else

The Knightfall storyline began with such invigorating set-up. Watching Batman struggle with something as arduous as battling a drug addiction made Bane all the more threatening in stories to come. A classic.
