This was a fast-paced, one sitting read filled with instant love and single fatherhood. The drama keeps you on edge with a love that burns passionately. I love my quick happy ending reads but this is definitely one that felt rushed at times and left me wanting even more.

The characters are all likable and with a plot that keeps you on your toes, the story is well rounded. I recommend if you’re looking for a book to occupy an afternoon or are itching for something lighter to break up your current reads!

Pace was a little too fast and there were some distracting grammatical errors (although it was an arc copy). Overall it was still a cute story with mild, on-page spice.

ARC review:

Jace’s ex girlfriend leaves their baby with Jace, not wanting anything to do with raising her own daughter, Jace is left to his one devices and unsure how to properly raise a child on his own.

Maddie his neighbour and a neonatologist who specializes in newborns begins to help him out. They spend lots of time together and Maddie begins to fall for Jace and baby Emily.

This was super sweet. I liked the two characters and I love the concept of this book.

This is a short read so everything happens really quickly so it’s kind of insta love, which brings it down a bit for me. I think I would’ve enjoyed it much more if it was longer and there was more build up and tension to get there. But that’s just personal opinion so I won’t rate too harshly for my own opinion.

I also found a fair amount of grammatical errors and mistakes, I’m well aware that this was an arc copy and I’m sure the final has been edited. But I did find it a little hard to get through the book because of them.

But the characters were both so sweet, it’s a small town romance which I absolutely love, and also a little bit of added spice!

Book Review
In a Heartbeat
A Novella Written By Adina D. Grey
Fiction - Romance
Published 2021
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

This story is told with dual points of view between the two main characters, Maddison and Jace.

Maddison is a neonatologist who relocates to a small town in New Hampshire to escape an abusive relationship. Jace is a firefighter who lives next door to the duplex Maddison buys when she relocates. Jace has been unlucky in relationships. He is now raising his newborn daughter alone after his girlfriend decides she does not want to be a mother. Luckily for Jace, Maddison is willing to help him out.

This book is a novella so things move quickly.

This book contained many grammatical errors, especially in verb tense. I received an ARC of this book which often do contain some errors. The errors in this book distracted from my enjoyment of the book. I did like the storyline, but because of the many errors, I had to give this book 31/2 stars. I hope corrections were made before a final copy was released.

really enjoyed this book, the main characters of the story have them on issues going on and when a little cry brings, Natalie to knock on the door of her neighbor. She falls in love instantly with the baby and has the hots for her single dad. The whole book kept me turning pages and I read it within a few hours. Highly Recommend.

Good story line, just felt extremely rushed. I get that it’s only 90 pages, but it felt like three movies wrapped into one novella. There should also be a domestic violence trigger warning
