Shots Fired is the 3rd book in the Blade Kings series. From the glimpses of Archer we've seen in the other books in this series I couldn't wait to see the man knocked off his feet. And boy he fell HARD! He was obsessed with Darcy as soon as he met her. But there were a few problems: 1) She lived in the UK. 2) She had a boyfriend. 3) She was his best friend's sister.
But now, she is single and has moved to the States and wants something casual and Archer wants the job! Unfortunately though, their relationship had to be a secret. He would take Darcy any way he could get her. That man was obsessed and I was here for it. ππ» And boy, that spice be spicin'!! π₯΅ When their situation changed, Archer found his chance to show Darcy how serious he was about her. I loved seeing their relationship change and develop. I loved them together. You seriously just couldn't help but root for them.
If you haven't read any of Ruth's books, what are you doing?! Add them to your TBR!
What to expect:
π₯ Coach's step-daughter
πTeammates/Best Friend's Sister
π€°πΌAccidental Pregnancy
β€οΈβπ₯Reformed Playboy
π₯He Falls First & HARD
This one releases July 7. Thank you so much to Ruth Stilling for this ARC!

If I could give this book more stars I would....
Well, hello to Archer Moore....now you had a lot to beat in my eyes after Zach Evans in frozen over, but Archer has just pipped him to the post.....he is seven million types of swoon!!!!
This latest book in the Blade Kings series is just mwah...perfect, it has it all, romance, suspense, rivalry, protective/ possessive man in all the good ways, trust me Archer is the absolute man of the match β€οΈπ I devoured this book and this book has left me desperate for book 4.

βIβm down bad, Darcy. And Iβm not going anywhere. Especially not now. β
I love me a great hockey book, found family and some secrets and you have me! Ruth always delivers! And she keeps me on my toes.
This book was amazing. The playboy obsessed with the sweet younger sister. Archer is not what you expect for a playboy we meet him and already obsessed with her and it so much amazingness after that!!
Darcy and Archer!!! I love when a man is done bad for his girl
And Archer does not disappoint. I will not spoil it but you will totally swoon so many times at how down he is for Darcy!! And itβs amazing!!
βStay Pretty, A,x.β

First, I want to say that I love this series. I enjoyed the first 2 books so much so requesting to ARC read this 3rd one was automatic. I must say, it isnt my favorite. I liked the book and finished it, but I definitely struggled a bit.
Let's start with the parts I liked. I love the girl friendships between Darcy, Kendra, Collins and Jenna. Love how supportive and funny they are. I actually liked how Archer was so down bad for Darcy and loved how he was before they got together. I like the longing and yearning on his end. I appreciated the reformed playboy shtick. The spice was good as well. It's a lot but I think it goes well with the unhingeness and obsession between the MCs.
For the parts I didnt love - the first thing that really bothered me throughout the book was how this book turned me off of Jack. I loved him on the first book (see review). I understand the protectiveness but felt it was too much and this isnt on him either. Both Darcy and Archer went above and beyond keeping this a secret - even putting people in a really sticky situation by having them keep it a secret including Kendra and Darcy's mom (having to keep it from her son and husband). The secrets compounded from sleeping together then getting pregnant then getting married. Let me tell you, I was stressed! Haha I was like whoa that is going to be a lot to spring on someone. I did not understand the reasoning to keep on lying to him. When the visa thing came up and the marriage of convenience happened, my first thought was it was overloaded with tropes. I think it would have been better to focus on a few tropes and hash it out more instead of getting more in it. I also did not connect with Darcy much. I love Archer in the beginning. In fact, I started to highlight convos where he would just pine for Darcy but then he became obsessive and borderline creepy then his dialogues went from sweet to cringey. Sawyer who I also loved in the previous books (see reviews) was insufferable here as well. The best way to describe my feelings on this book is I felt like it was a train wreck I didnt want to watch but had to peek anyway.
I'm curious to see who the characters will be for the next book. If it is Tommy, I will need to see how Ruth turns what she made look like a villain on this book be likable. It seems everyone hates him already. I will probably wait until that book gets released and see reviews first.
I appreciate being able to read books early and I want to say thank you to Wordsmith Publicity for the eARC. It didnt work out for me but there are so many positive reviews so I am sure people will like this book as well!

I don't know what it is, but I go absolutely feral for a playboy who is knocked down a peg or two and becomes so down bad that its borderline unhinged obsessiveness.
Archer, Daddy Archer, I should really say. That man will make you swoon, melt and blush all within a span of 5 minutes. First off, the mouth on that man, whew, had me in a puddle. This man spoiled Darcy to no end and once he knew he was going to become a dad, it unlocked something in him where he was more intense, but only in the best way possible.
I know there were reasons to keep it quiet, but Darcy, girrrrrrl, how could you hold out that long! I would be screaming it from the rooftops.
I really loved their moments together. They had so much more to their relationship then their chemistry. Those little moments really added up to strengthen their relationship over time.
Ruth, I have no idea what you put in your books but please keeping giving them to me so I can absolutely devour them!
