Firstly, I recommend checking out the trigger warning for this. No worries about spoilers either as there's not really a plot.
I think the writing is meant to keep the reader in a perpetual state of uncomfortableness but I imagine that especially the way disabled and fat bodies are described has the potential to be very harmful. In the end, this is a book about cruelty and the language reflects that.
The writing is very effective though; in that the author really manages to create an atmosphere at the camp, a sense of the relationships, the weather etc. Everything feels very viciral.
The writing is also more traditionally beautiful in places and overall quite poetic.
The story itself is supremely weird.
