This is a modern take on A Christmas Carol, with a few twists that I really liked. While the writing style wasn't to my taste, I quickly found myself sucked into the story. It's the same old tale and it acknowledges that, but it's that same old tale with a difference.
Here, A Christmas Carol happens in reverse, because what we need to learn is hidden in the main character's past, so the big reveal comes during the Ghost of Christmas Past. But, right from the start, there's the hint of what might have happened, of what could have been, and what might have been, with a little bit of potential misdirection, too. In the end, the story was quite touching and well plotted. It told the story in a way that was original and intriguing.
