I have been on a roll this week with the emotional books! And I wasn’t expecting it from this one. If you’ve read Dirty English, you’ve met Dax Blay. He’s a cheeky bastard. He likes to party, goes through women, and is humorous. So I was expecting his book, Filthy English, to be on the humorous side. It wasn’t. You really get to see the serious side of Dax and I freaking LOVED it! Now don’t get me wrong, he’s still a cheeky devil but he’s definitely grown up a bit since Dirty English. And I was super excited to read his book.

Remi was Dax’s opposite and opposites definitely attracted in Filthy English. She was studious and knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life. She was a planner and had lists for everything. Her ex-fiancè, Hartford, checks off all her boxes when it comes to what she wants from a relationship. Especially after having experienced a three night stand with Dax in the past. While on vacation in London, she runs into Dax and they decide to take a stab at being friends. But whenever they get near each other, they practically combust with lust for each other and it isn’t long before they are burning up the sheets.

There is a ton of sparks flying and banter in this book but what got me were the tender moments. There was some serious gut wrenching stuff here. It caught me off guard and the tears started flowing. I wanted to reach through the screen of my eReader and just snap some sense into these two at times. They were putting themselves and each other through so much torture! Ugh. I get riled thinking about it. Communication is key in relationships people. Learn from their mistakes. I’m really hoping that Spider and Lulu get a book; I want to see them hook up. I think that’d be an interesting pairing. But truthfully, I just want more hot, British alphas from this author.

I just couldn't get into it! At one point, I was 30-something percent into it, and I wound up remarking in my buddy read how much I really hated Remi! Dax hadn't shown enough of himself to have me make a determination one way or the other at that point, but he never went much deeper than that point, making him very shallow for me. I felt that the focus of the book was sex only, and revenge against each other, but the main characters were very childish overall and they never actually sat down and discussed their issues with each other and the ex-boyfriend. This book did nothing but reinforce my stereotype that all New Adult sub-genre books suck! The redeeming quality of this book was the cameos from Declan and Elizabeth, as it was good to catch up with the characters I had enjoyed. I didn't remember the first book sucking as bad as this one did, but I think I will avoid any future books in the series or by the author!

What an absolutely stunning second chance romance. The chemistry between Dax and Remi was sizzling but add their history together, it is a stunning tale of lust, love, heartbreak and redemption. I loved Dirty English and Declan but I think Dax is the new heartthrob of this family! I love how his character develops throughout this story and really gives you a sense of how he is growing up.
Remi is a bit broken, and who wouldn’t be after what her ex did to her. One chance encounter changes the course of her path and it’s right on Dax’s trail. They banter and the quick wit between these two keep you glued to their every moment and will make you giggle. They go through so many motions and when the time comes that they end up living together through circumstance, past heartache comes out as well as secrets that the other one didn’t know. This makes for some heartbreaking angst as you read these two go through it.
What I really loved was the ending. That bonfire. Was epic. I have to say was my favorite scene in the whole book and it left me swooning and giggling. Overall, this book flowed amazingly and kept me engaged the whole time. If you have not read these books from Madden-Mills, I highly recommend them. They are a lot of fun as well as amazing twists on classic literature!

Oh what a joy it is to wake up and find Filthy English on my kindle!

I kinda sorta remembered Dax from Dirty English - I remembered he was the twin of Declan but that was about all. That has nothing to do with the writing or the book, just that I have terrible bookzheimer's and when you read as much as I do, I forget more than I remember!

Right from the get go I was in lust with Dax. I swear, what was not to love about him??

And Remi, smarting from being dumped just before her wedding, she was licking her wounds when she falls for Dax... literally falls for him.

I just loved them together, even when they are trying to stick to this "just friends" business. The reader just knows that this is never going to be a real option for them, for the sparks that fly between them light up whenever they are in the same postcode!

There is history between them, and as the story unfolds me heart hurt for them both. It gives us great insight as to why they are both maybe not broken but definitely fractured.

I laughed, I cried, I yelled at my kindle. I wanted, no I NEEDED them to get their HEA. Through the great times and the bad, I just knew they would make it.

Filthy English is a sweet, sexy second chance romance, with fate throwing her hand in to help things along.

Now I am really, realllllly hoping we get a book about their cousin!
