Oh how I LOVED this Romeo & Juliet reimagined in a sexy, fun, sweet way. Dax and Remi were perfect together for me. I actually give this 4.5 Stars but it is closer to the 5 Stars mark for GR.

This specific video review will be included in the February 2018 Part 2 wrap-up.

This was a good addition to this series (if this is just a duology then a great ending) It's a Romeo and Juliet retelling. And a good one at that.

I have not enough words to describe the emotionally charged journey I travelled when reading Remi and Dax's story. From the very first word they totally had me in their clutches andI would not return to myself until the very end. I fell in love with Dax in Dirty English and just could not wait to read his story. Both Dax and Remi were adamant that they were not going to fall in love. Because love hurts! It is too hard to say goodbye, so why give your heart in the first place. It should be kept fun with no strings, right? Yeah, it was so cute, them thinking they could evade that arrow. My heart was theirs and I struggled through their journey, which had many ups and downs, as i knew that it would be worth every tear I shed, every curse word that left my lips, and every smile and laugh that escaped while reading what turned into one of my favourite stories of all time. But Remi's brother!! He just went and stole my heart. I hung off every word, and cried bittersweet tears at his words. he was this light in a sometimes dark and heartbreaking journey. And this story not only had all this drama and hot, hot loving, it had a twist that hit me like a sledgehammer. Did not see it coming. I cannot get enough of authors that I followed for ages, that continue to surprise and captivate me, all at the same time. Ilsa Madden-Mills is one of these authors. To say I adored this book is quite inadequate, but there are really not enough words to describe this amazing series and what it means to me. I give this a thousand stars and more.

I loved this book! The story sucked me in right from the beginning. I loved the angst between the characters and even though you knew they HAD to end up together, it held my attention to the end.

I loved Dirty English so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one! Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this one as much. I think it was because so much of the time in this book was when they were apart/with other people. That is a personal preference for me. The writing was great and I enjoyed getting a glimpse of Declan and Elizabeth, but the storyline just didn't do much for me.

Filthy English is a great addition to Ilsa's English series. I was so excited to get Dax's story after meeting him in Declan's book, Dirty English, but I also worried that Dax just wouldn't be able to compare to Declan and I'd find my self disappointed. I am so happy to tell you that is not the case. While Declan will always (I think) be my favorite of the English boys (although...Spider, yeah Spider... may out do all book boyfriends, yeah, I just said that. His is going to be an epic story.) Dax wasn't about to let himself be over run by his twin.

I loved Dax, there is a tenderness to him that he tries to hide and a serious vulnerability to just wanting to be loved but not knowing how to get it or handle it when he does. Both of the twins were, of course, affected by the passing of their mother but I believe that the effect was more devastating for Dax than Declan. While Declan had his love of MMA to turn to Dax has floundered through the years in everything from school to relationships. He's become a playboy, a cad, a party boy...a lost soul. One brief bit of insanity years ago leads to a glimpse of sanity and when the one girl he has never been able to forget literally tumbles into his lap she reminds him that there is more to him and his life than it seems.

Remi is coming to terms with having been essentially left at the alter by the one guy she thought could give her the safety and dependability her life needs.

“I had a great plan, you know – the plan. Marry a responsible, nice guy, get my doctorate, discover a new bird species, take care of Malcolm, have four kids, but guess what? My plan is shit. My goals are shit. Even my back-up plan sucks. It’s flawed because the perfect guy decided I’m not the perfect choice for him.”

Remi has not had an easy life. Her relationship with her mother is strained, she is dedicated (as should be) to caring for her Autistic Brother (Who is just awesome, I love him...can he get a book Ilsa?) and her school work. She has dreams and is fighting to make them happen. One night years ago changed her life forever when a hot British guy gave her everything for 3 days and then took it all away and hardened her heart.

So my only complaint when it comes to this book and what makes it a 4 star read for me is that it took almost the entire book for me to like Remi. For all purposes I should have liked her right off the bat. Her struggles, her fight, her heart...it's all there but sadly to me she came off as a bit whiney and extremely frustrating. I hated the way she treated Dax especially when it comes to her relationship with her ex. The amount of miscommunication from her side ended up being just a bit too much for me to bear. Thankfully I loved the other characters in the story. Dax, Spider, Declan, and Remi's brother. Even with the my not being able to connect with Remi like I wanted to, I really enjoyed the romance between Dax and Remi. It is clear that what Dax needs is her and we all want Dax to get what Dax wants and needs.

Filthy English is a great addition to this series and I am definitely looking forward to more. If you love New Adult or Contemporary Romance you will absolutely want to give this series a go. Filthy English and Dirty English can be read as standalones, reading them out of order will not affect your reading pleasure...I do think however from the 'look' of things that when it comes to Spiders book (I am guessing book three) that you will want to have read both books before you read his, of course that is future looking so.... All you need to know now is these English Boys are worth taking a look at!

~HAPPY READING ~
