Enjoyed this one a lot, not sure how the series will go on after this one but looking forward to finishing the trilogy.

+.25 for making me cry

Leigh is a fledgling angel that needs to complete her feathers by helping sinners improve their soul score by influencing them to do good deeds. She needs to act fast and so she takes on a sinner with an extremely high score in order to win a lot of feathers and fast but things don’t go exactly to plan.

I know people hate spoilers but I really wish someone had spoiled it for me so I could decide if I should have read it or not

I really, really loved this book but I hated the ending which is why I took happy a start.
When I read a Romeo and Juliet retelling all I thought was enemies to lovers and forbidden love not that they’ll both die at the end. I now that this is a huge spoiler but I really wish someone had spoiled it to me before I got so attached to them. And in know technically the get reincarnated in the third book but I’ll probably won’t read that because their just not the same characters I fell in love with.

This book was fine. I liked it. I didn't love it though and I don't think I connected that much with the characters since the ending didn't make me cry. I'm slightly intrigued by the rest of the series, but don't really have any interest in continuing at the moment. It wasn't a waste of time though.

Love. Love. LOVE this book. The ending would have made me cry if it wasn’t for my antidepressants. It’s a classic grumpy/sunshine romantic fantasy filled with touch her you die vibes.

An interesting retelling of Romeo and Juliet with angels and sinners. I loved all the French used and the Paris setting. Beautifully done. Our Romeo and Juliet were sometimes as hard to stomach as Shakespeare’s originals, so that was done well, though hard to read at times.

Ultimately I loved this book. There were a few comments here and there kind of disparaging on certain groups of people, but in hindsight I think it was part of the whole "Celestial Purity" thing which basically
turned out to be a total farce.

I really liked Leigh and Celeste, Jarod and Mimi --
However, the relationship was almost too quickly developed for me. In the end, it's only over the course of a month or so, and I think it might have been better if it had been stretched out a bit. I understand some of the time constraints of the plot, but those could have been tweaked as well. That being said, it definitely fit the whole Romeo and Juliet mood with a quick romance and dual death situation at the end -- I clearly missed the R&J memo on this story, lmao. Because when I got to the end, I was like....wtf. No. Oh, and then Leigh once she got to Elysium -- I get that she got duped, but her obsessive "when Jarod gets her" bit was almost a smidge bit too much for me. I needed more fury and rage at the betrayal. Heartbreak finding out about Jarod's soul. I don't know, maybe I was anxious to be done? Or find out what happens?

I still rate it high despite the few things that made me raise an eyebrow. I'm easy to please.

Totally fell for the main character- Leigh. She was totally personable and I could only wish the best for her as she decended into Jarod's life of crime. She is so sweet and somehow keeps her charm throughout the whole story, no matter what she chooses to do.

Olivia (the author) has a way with her writing, that once I picked this book up, I did not want to set it down. Even though the story does feature common tropes, the diverse world she set up and in depth character building is totally hers and is beautifully done.
