I purposely read this book on a day when I would have time to read the entire thing because I knew it would be that good. Heather Gudenkauf knows how to tell a great story and weave all the characters together. Some of the parts are a little predictable but that doesn't mean that the story is not interesting. It just makes you want to shout at the characters, "Wait, stop! Don't do that." There are plenty of unpredictable parts as well. I throughly enjoyed this book. I will be checking to see if there are any Heather Gudenkauf books that I have not yet read.

Too many dead children. JFC that was depressing.
I was totally drawn into this book. Ellen is a busy social worker and mother juggling the activities and stresses of her own family and the abused and neglected children she works with. On a hot summer day, she does the unthinkable when she unknowingly leaves her 10 month old sleeping daughter strapped in her carseat while responding to an emergency with a family she works with.
More like 2.5 stars. Wanted this to be a lot more than it was.

One of my favorite authors, if you are a fan of Gillian Flynn, you will love her books. This one isn't as great as The Weight of Silence, but I still flew through it.
