Yay, I was already hoping this series would be about Tor. I really liked the first installment. It gave us a nice view into Tor and his way of thinking, it introduced another great dragon (and a female, which makes me really glad) and set us off nicely into a new story. I loved the appearances and mentions of the characters we grew to love so much in the Dragon School series, setting this story firmly in the same worls. I'm curious how this will play out!
A new series, a new chapter in the world of Dragon School.
Before I started this book I thought it would just take place in the world of Dragon School with some similarities, probably years later or so. I didn’t expect so many familiar places and names so soon. And that it basically is “season 2” of Dragon School.
I love it. A new dragon and her rider and new intel to gather on the realm and the people and other species like dragons in them. You thought you knew it all? Guess again.
At first it took a while for the story to pick up, but the slow pace is actually great to get back into the world and get a bit familiar with the new main character of the story. Soon after, you dive right into it. The relationship between dragon and rider is so familiar to Amel and Raolcan but at the same time so opposite. At times you almost wonder if they simply changed roles.
At the end you also get right in the action and suspicion. I’m curious to where this is headed! (And if we run into more familiar names and places along the way ;))

This was really entertaining. The story was great and I interested in the characters. Tor had great reactions but the star for me was Saboraak. She's sassy and funny, I adored her. I'm looking forward to the next one.
The narration is good except for the female voices.

Tor and Saboraak are a fun match. Well, match... They have strong personalities that clash a bit. The clash is a way that each tell the other what they need to hear, to make them stronger. They made me smile as they told the hard truths to each other. In this short story I grew fond of Tor and Saboraak together and as characters.

What a great start to the series! I loved the dragon school series, and I love that this follows up on the ending of that. Plus, Tor will be a great main character. Loving his dragon already too - they’ll balance each other out great! I also don’t think it ever registered with me in the original series that there were no female dragons. Excited to see why it’s so important that there’s one in the human realm now.
A short story that won’t disappoint! A young man living in a ruin city is hoping to get his chance at riding dragons. So do he? Read and see!
I can’t wait to continue this story.

Dragon Chameleon: Rogue’s Quest is book one in Sarah K.L. Wilson’s new spin-off series from the Dragon School serial. This story picks up after the destruction of the cities and follows a young vagabond by the name of Tor. He’s waiting on his friend to come and take him to a better life, but something isn’t right in the world. He sees something strange, learns something terrifying and now he has an opportunity for a new life…a change has come, but danger lurks at every turn.
Dragon Chameleon Rogue’s Quest is a good start to this new series. We are introduced to new characters but a familiar storyline as this is still in the Dragon School world. I’ll admit that my mind kept wanting to make the main character a girl, but I soon got past that and accepted it’s a male main character this time. I have to admit that I love the dragon interactions between the characters. The humor is fantastic. I have to say that the old purple dragon has the best sense of humor. The storyline is well paced and definitely had me page-turning in certain scenes and situations.
Mind you, this is a serial so the story is short, but it is well done. I’m eager to read the next book in this series to learn what happens next with Tor and his new companions. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you read Sarah K.L. Wilson’s Dragon School series and enjoyed it then, by all means, grab this book up! A new journey has begun and you don’t want to miss out!

I was so happy to find out Tor would get his own series! I adored him in "Dragon School"... and this did not disappoint! His interactions with Hubric were awesome, but even better with his dragon, Saboraak, a female dragon! She's sassy, witty, and smart. Now don't get me wrong, she is no Raolcan... but who is? On to book 2!

Interesting set up and great characters, but the main guy was a bit annoying - teenage boy though!
DNFed at 20%
I listened to half an hour of this 2 and a half hour book, and couldn’t take any more. The narrator’s voice is too gravelly, making his words a bit monotone-y and difficult to understand, and he uses a cringe-worthy falsetto for the female character.
The story starts with a dull conversation interspersed with a weird info-dump that gives you lots of pieces of information that somehow don’t add up to any understandable world-building. I think it would make more sense if I’d read the previous series, but I didn’t have any understanding of why the city is in ruins or any of the things the main character is apprehensive about.
The main character is annoying, over-confident, and whiny. The dialogue is awkward and stilted and littered with cliches and over-written phrases.
Examples: The dragon says things like: “Stop being a big baby and go get your things.” The main character “tried to keep any emotions from leaking onto my face.”
