Hardly anything actually happened but the prose is beautiful

It was as good as Hitchhiker's Guide radio plays. Some parts were hilarious, other parts would have probably needed a little more work. People who don't like the crazy space adventures in Hitchhiker's Guide, then this may be a little easier to get into. Adventures are still wacky and, ignoring the sci-fi and fantasy parts, it seemed a lot more grounded.
People who are fans of HGTTG, should look into Dirk Gently stories.

A fun and easy read that is full of different ideas that should have been explored/ explained more in depth in a longer book.

DNF @ 20%.
I enjoyed tv-adaptation (season 1 at least, before all the drama about producers), but this book was so hard to get through. I read at least 100 pages and don't care about any of characters or the story itself. Maybe it's lost in translation (I'm reading this in russian), but I didn't get the humor.
Not for me, unfortunately:/

I was mostly just reading this and making the face from the meme that goes "????" Because the jumping plot was a bit much for my little brain. Usually I'm ok with some
time travel
but Douglas Adams just throws a person into it. For instance, he introduces a character that is clearly not like the others, it has a different style of name and different type of 3rd person perspective. But it took me half the book to figure out what that character was. I've never read a Douglas Adams book so I wouldn't know if this is normal or just a one-off. However, the titular character is charming in a silly sort of way. Like a really fucked up Miss Marple.

Extremely odd and refreshingly unexpected. And funny, of course.
