I know she was legally an adult when the relationship started but the fact that he had known her since she was a child was too weird for me. I tried to get past it because I wanted to know the parents reactions but the sex scenes made me uncomfortable. And him still referring to her as "little bit" and "little one" was gross 🤢.

This was a fun, taboo romance! Very spicy. Ends on a cliffhanger so I made sure the next book was available right away. lol

The diary entries, and the pun play on Kandy and Cane's name, is the only reason why I rated this 4*. She's 18 when their relationship starts, but the way that she writes in her diary solidifies her childlike naivety and it makes me uncomfortable. The pun play (Cane calls her Kandy Cane) felt cheap, like something out of a YA fiction or Hallmark movie. Williams' writing is anything but cheap, so it seemed slightly misplaced.

In hindsight, the rating I gave this book was too MF high but I won't change it.
However, IDK that I’ve EVER gaspsed as much with a book as I did with this one. It was very scandalous.
The fact that Kandy's dad is quite literally fighting for his life while his bestie is fingerbanging his daughter is crazyyyyyyy.

4 stars on this one! Dark taboo romance that has all the tropes that I love: Forbidden romance (Dad’s best friend), age gap (17 year difference), lots of dirty talk, hero’s dark past including mafia/cartel drama, and psycho ex-girlfriends. Trigger warning on sensitive matters such as unplanned pregnancy and miscarriage so please be aware of that going in.
This entire series is so full of emotions and drama that packed everything you could want in a HEA.
