Thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was 4.5 stars, but not quite a 5 star book for me. I enjoyed the fact that the heroine had a checkered past. Despite my preference for heroes who look like demo-gods and behaved like scoundrels, I found Sir Alistair Munroe quite likeable as a hero. Well done, Ms Hoyt!

This was probably my favorite of this quartet. L loved the hero in this story. He was such a good person beneath all the gruff. I really liked his interactions with the children. Highly recommend.!!

Ms. Hoyt’s story telling abilities improve with each novel. And the addition of puppies is brilliant indeed.

A sweet historical romance of the Beauty and the Beast variety complete with a dingy, dusty castle. I liked that Helen wasn't your typical historical romance heroine and is instead a "fallen"woman who has made mistakes in her past. Alistair has scars, both inside and out from his time in the war. He is mean and gruff but underneath it all is a very lonely man. I liked the children as well. I love watching Alistair with them.

I found the resolution of the conflict a little anticlimactic but was still satisfied with the ending. This is a very cute book that I would recommend to historical romance readers.

Excellent book with lots of feels between the hero and the heroine's children which I always love. Not quite making it to 5 stars due to hero having some issues with the heroine's past and taking too long to realize he needs to offer marriage but I did really enjoy this story.

First Hoyt I've read. I liked her writing style as well as the backstory she gives to Sir Alistair (enough to get me interested in the other three men in the Legend series). Helen I didn't quite like as much as a heroine, although she did demonstrate backbone and her kids were cute. I did appreciate the rather clever way Sir Alistair solved Helen's problem, very neat.

Helen is running with her children to get away from her former lover who cares nothing for her or her their children. Abigail is the oldest(9) and she's a very serious child, Jamie is the energetic 5 year old. She runs to Alistair's castle in Scotland only to find it's a dirty lonely place ruled over by a beast of a man. Her lover eventually tracks her down and steals the kids to force her to come back to him, because even though he doesn't care, like a spoiled brat no one else can play with his toys.
While I don't always love kids in a romance these 2 are essential in this one.
I think this is my favorite from this series so far, I loved Alistair the grumpy lonely scared man who hides alone in his castle and how it was Helen and her children that pulled him out into the world again.

Loved loved this book! It's part of a series but I had no problem reading it as a stand alone. If you are a fan of the Beauty and the Beast theme you must read this book!
