I went into this book without knowing much about it and was pleasantly surprised! I really liked the main character Wren. Her inner monologue is so funny and she had the best one-liners. It was a little slow to start while the second half was a little rushed. The world-building is interesting but also a little confusing but I'm really interested to see what happens next!

The FMC has not had an easy go of things, but that really endears you to her really quickly. You are quickly introduced to a whole slew of characters from around the city, and I found myself wondering if there was more to them or whether they were just to help build out Wren’s character quickly and to show how caring and sweet of a person she is.

The world building in this is amazing, as is the introduction to the various gods and pantheons. I’ve always been a bit of a mythology nerd, so to see this unique and interesting take on (mainly) Celtic and Greek mythologies was super satisfying.

Each of our featured MMCs are unique, with such a well-created back story that has me wanting to know more. It's hard to pick a favourite at the moment - I think I'll take a leaf out of Wren's book, and not choose at all.

As for Wren’s men? Haha well, all I will say is that so far my favourite is the Gryphon and leave it at that so as to avoid spoilers. He had me giggling at his antics multiple times. I am also really excited to see where that cliffhanger is leading!

This review was a little trickier to read than most of Grace’s books for me. I liked it but it was missing that little SOMETHING to give it a full 5 stars. I can’t quite place what, but I will say that it felt a little rushed sometimes? Like maybe descriptions were dropped to keep under a certain word count- a couple of times I remarked to my buddy reader that it felt as though events were described halfway through them happening and we missed the beginning of the movement or conversation and the relationships don’t have the same level of depth as I would usually see from Grace’s books.
