It's Ok. The characters felt flat, except maybe Xelan, and even him felt two dimensional at best. The villain has zero nuance, I know absolutely nothing of his motivations, and he's defeated so easily that he felt irrelevant.
It had a bunch of continuity mistakes, and a lot of typos, which constantly took me out of the story.
The characters were kind of inconsistent, and a lot is told more than shown.

I received this ARC from Owl City Press in exchange for an honest review.
Alien's Captive was so easy to devour. In this, you will meet Xelan and Ava. Even though it wasn't necessarily love at first sight, I will definitely say that these two had an instantaneous connection. The drama surrounding these two was okay but I just fell in love with their romance.
I'm not going to lie, it was hot and heavy when it needed to be and now I'm all kinds of excited for the next book in this series. Especially because of the chemistry brewing between these two. I just need more and I need Brok to find happiness too.
In the end, not sure what the action/drama will be for Brok but I'm down to devour it as well.

I just wasn't connecting to the characters or really feeling their bond. Also, I appreciate the long history of Stargate and other scifi stories using the "humans are descended from aliens and/or were seeded onto earth by aliens" trope, but given that I've been deep diving into evolution documentaries, the use of it kinda turned me off here. If the aliens are humans' ancestors, is it *really* an alien romance?

DNF. Feels like it was a rough draft… couldn’t get into the writing. And even recall the names of the characters 😅
