While preparing for Buzzwordathon, I went to my Goodreads TBR and searched for the word "lie". I then searched my library's database to see if they had the book, and that's how I found The Marriage Lie.

Do you ever really know someone completely?
The Marriage Lie is a domestic suspense novel that takes place during spring in Atlanta. Iris, a psychologist, has been married to Will, a computer scientist, for seven years. A plane traveling to Seattle crashes, and authorities tell Iris that Will was on the plane, but she is confused because he said he was taking a flight to a conference in Orlando. Iris goes on a trip with her twin brother to find out more about her husband's past.

Quickly drawn into the story, I was crying by page 30, and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen. Iris's twin brother, Dave, is my favourite character. For the first half of the book Iris felt relatable, and tug at my heart-strings. The twist was predictable for me, and I felt bored for the last quarter of the book.

“Dread begins to burrow under my skin like a parasite, slow and steady, eating away at my certainty.”

The Marriage Lie was just okay for me, however, it was a semifinalist in the 2017 Goodreads Choice Awards, so it may be great for other Mystery/Thriller fans.

This book kept me guessing. I thought it was good until the end. The ending (as in the last two pages) shocked me and made me think “wow, I would’ve never done that. Ever.” I journey that the author takes you on in this book could’ve been better, but I say that because I read so many thrillers and suspenseful books. If this book was suspenseful at all, it would of been much better.

I recently delved into a book that, at the beginning, promised a captivating journey. The initial chapters had me hooked, and I reveled in the unfolding narrative. However, as the story progressed, I found myself grappling with a sense of disappointment, particularly with the unexpected twists that awaited me.

The author skillfully crafted an engaging and entertaining plot, leading me down a path filled with suspense and anticipation. The characters were well-developed, each with their own quirks and complexities, adding depth to the overall narrative. As the story reached its climax, I anticipated a resolution that would tie up loose ends and provide a satisfying conclusion.

Yet, the twists in the plot left me bewildered and, dare I say, disheartened. What initially seemed like a promising resolution took an unexpected turn that did not align with the expectations I had built throughout the journey. The narrative choices left me questioning the direction the author chose to take, and the resolution felt unsatisfying, leaving a lingering sense of disillusionment.

Despite my reservations about the conclusion, it's important to acknowledge the book's undeniable entertainment value. The journey itself was filled with moments of excitement, tension, and intrigue that kept me eagerly turning the pages. The author's ability to captivate and engage the reader cannot be denied, even if the ultimate destination left me wanting more.

In conclusion, while I may have reservations about the twists and turns that colored the conclusion of this book, I cannot deny the entertainment it provided along the way. A rollercoaster of emotions, this novel proves that the journey can be just as important as the destination, even if the final destination may not have met my initial expectations.

What a MYSTERY! I had a lot of fun reading this. Whether it was my ability to suspend my disbelief or it was really good writing (or maybe a little of both) it was great to be taken along where the story went
