A+ narration. This book had a lot of dry humour and I loved the Eli's voice and character as narrator. I've never read a western but I'll probably read some more now that I liked this one

I liked this book well enough, I’m not sure westerns are my genre but I enjoyed what I read in this

This Sisters Brothers was short listed for the Man Booker Prize and deservingly so. I found it to be an enjoyable, quick, and breezy read. It's a cowboy tale of two brothers. The high, the lows and the in between. Moments that make you laugh, wince, shutter and then turn to the next page. I highly recommend it.

A quick and easy read. Different than anything I've ever read before. Fast paced although the second half of the book dragged more than the first.
Graphic: Alcoholism, Animal cruelty, Animal death, Body horror, Child abuse, Gore, Gun violence, Physical abuse, Racial slurs, Torture, Toxic relationship, Violence, Blood, Vomit, Grief, Medical trauma, Murder, Alcohol, Injury/Injury detail
At about 20% along, I put the book down. I needed a walk. As I walked, I thought. And as I thought, I decided to surrender.
This isn't a book for me. I do respect it, and I see why some people would like it a lot. But the little vignettes are just violent slapsticky sorts of ventures that end up with too many innocent people dead, and the animal abuse is uncharted, and the brothers are perfectly horrendous little men.
Yeah, I know that's the point, but. I know when a book is not my jam, and when it just makes me constantly feel nauseous to read, I know I need to give in and return it. It's just too much for me, too dark and too bleak and I'm not a huge fan of slapstick comedy in any case so...
Eh.
That cover is possibly the coolest cover of all time, though.
