My first Terry Prachett book. I didn't like. I know it was fantasy but there was no magic which I found disappointing and almost no women at all in the story. Not for me. I get the religious satire but it's not my thing. Was so glad when i finished it, I should have DNFed but wanted to give it a chance!

I'm at that age where stories that are high fantasy, sci-fi, dystopia, or generally involve very complicated world-building are too much for my exhausted brain, so though this was a challenge, it was still an enjoyable read. As a book that people always recommend when others are in search of a fictional story that's very focused on the concept and structures of religion, it was thought-provoking and ironic - we as readers are aware that we commit these predictable notions, yet we do it anyway despite this alleged self-awareness.

More than anything, what I like best about this book is how it captured the most important thing about faith, which I think institutionalized religion that strives to expand and create exclusive communities have glossed over in time - it is, in the end, the intimate relationship between you and whoever you perceive to be your god that matters most. The authentic dynamic between Om as a god and Brutha as a believer is captivating and something I think only Terry Pratchett could've nailed.

This is the first story I've ever come across in a while that has made me think that people, that humans, are funny creatures with the decisions we make, which was a nice change, personally, when I've also been consuming a lot of media that shows the depths to how sinister and stupid we get.

Hilarious and thought provoking and heart warming. I’m an absolute sucker for characters who’s core is kindness, apparently. Loved this!!
