Oh ye Gods! I get more disappointed by each next book. Every new character continues to be more interesting than Claire. She turns more naive instead of having more experience, or using the experience she got so far. The physics titles get flung all over even though she STILL does not "get" how some obvious things are physics+magic etc etc.
Really the only thing I liked was Myrnin.

Oh my gods. This one was off the MF chain.
Amelie’s dad(?!) rolls into town on the heels of Claire’s parents. And secrecy and deception reign.
There’s a coup. There’s danger and sacrifice. There’s confusion and betrayal. Claire, fool that she is, makes a big play (for her anyhow) and aligns herself. She’s actually the first of all humans and vamps to step beside Amelie.
Shit. Goes. Down.
I hate that this is an 8 book set bc I’m gonna have to go back and mark it as reading and then somehow don’t count it for my total read… unless I just don’t count one of the books but I need to review them all lol.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series by Rachel Caine... there's humor and wit and twists and turns that at the end of this one had me saying I need to read the next book like NOW! LOL...

Claire's parents have turned up in town along with some undesirable guests. The arrival of Mr Bishop and his evil escorts has put even Amelie and Oliver on edge and could it be possible that they will join forces against a common enemy? Yet Amelie is holding a welcome feast for Mr Bishop and the whole town seems to be involved.

I personally thought the reasoning behind the feast was quite obvious and whilst the story is fast paced and addictive, I think the fact that these are aimed at younger readers is starting to show. I would have expected more progression in the relationships in the house. It does seem that sometimes the story skirts round obvious plot choices in order to give the right message out to teens.

At the beginning of each new Morganville Vampires book, I wonder why I read these books. They're really silly and Claire irritates me. Yet I continue for another chapter, and I'm inevitably hooked. Rachel Caine writes potato chip books. You can't read just one page (or just one book). The story gets under your skin and before you know it, you can't tear yourself away.

Feast of Fools adds a new layer to the Morganville Vampires. Amelie's father Bishop has arrived. He is a level of evil that even the Morganville Vampires won't stoop to. Bishop manages to make allies of many enemies, including Oliver and Amelie. Bishop brings with him two lackeys, one of whom (Ysandre) is determined to sink her teeth into Shane - figuratively or literally.

Meanwhile, Claire has to deal with her parents. They've decided to move to Morganville and are just beginning to understand the town's big secret. I don't know how they produced such a smart daughter. They're not the sharpest knives in the drawer. In the Glass House, Michael is still adjusting to being a vampire and Eve is adjusting to being a vampire's girlfriend. I loved that Michael was able to start playing the guitar again at shows. It's clear that he has real talent. I so love Michael. I hope he never goes to the dark side.

I go back and forth on the tension between Shane and Claire. On one side, it's lots of fun. Tons of passion but still leaves you wanting more. Perhaps that's the problem. I'm getting tired of the wait. I keep wanting to shake Shane and tell him to just sleep with her already. Who cares if she's only 16! So funny that I would never approve of it in real life, but I think Shane and Claire should become lawbreakers :-)

The vampires are the real stars of this book. Bishop is a stolid evil character right now, but I feel like he'll develop into more as the series goes on. Amelie straddles the line being a caretaker of the Morganville humans and selfishly using them as a means to an end. Oliver is a little further along the evil line but even he has a dignified nature. My favorite is Myrnin. When he's in his right mind, he's a scholarly old gentleman who honestly seems to care for Claire. It's sad to see him fall prey to the illness. I can understand why Claire wants to help the vampires. Even evil creatures shouldn't have to suffer so much.

Once again, a Morganville Vampires book sucked me in. By the end, I was at the edge of my seat. The books inevitably end on a cliff-hanger so you just have to get the next one. And I shall...

“Crap, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"I'm thinking we have about fifteen vampires and no blood," Claire said. "Is that it?"

"No, I was thinking we're out of chips. Of course that's what I was thinking.”

SpoilerFeast of Fools was a pretty good book. Pretty sure the only character I really hated was Ysandre. The bitch needed to die a very painful death. So I approve of the holy water being dumped on her.

Bitchy Monica was back but then she kind of became nicer at the end of the book. Which most likely has to deal with the fact that she was basically sacrificed to Bishop and didn't die. But then saw a whole bunch of people die at this death ball that she attended.

Claire still kind of made annoying choices that most likely put her life in danger. But it's all good because she got Shane at the end, right?!? Other than that, I thought it was pretty cool that she could get the house to kick vampires out.

Speaking of annoying, Claire's parents were exactly that and that is all I have to say about them.

Then there's the whole Michael thing and how Eve, Shane, and Claire all thought that he could magically protect him for the most powerful vampires ever...

You people are all dumb as shit if you think the youngest vampire ever made can take on some ancient piece of shit. DUMB. However, it all worked out for them since the vampires that didn't vow loyalty to Bishop fought him and his vampire henchmen at the ball. Oh, and they found out that Bishop's blood is the cure for all of the vampires in Morganville.

Then shit hit the fan even more at the end of this book when Amelie was stabbed, then healed, then came up with a plan to get Bishop and his vampire gang from hell out of the town. Oh and Shane is just the biggest piece of human bait ever. Claire knows it. Amelie knows it. BUT does Shane know it?!?! I bet he does. Which mean humans are just so freaking stupid in this town. I get that I didn't like Shane earlier in the book...and maybe in like half of this book too, but I assume people would realize whether or not they were bait, right?

This series is pretty interesting. I can't wait to read the next book.
