I really enjoyed Adrift. It was action packed from cover to cover. I recall at around page 250 thinking that it had already covered everything and was about to get boring... was I ever wrong! There was a TON of content in this book and all of it was enjoyable. Also, the multiple character perspectives kept things from getting too stale.
The only downside for me is that the ending was a bit rushed. I wish there was a few more chapters on how everything played out in the long run.

Not bad, fairly snappily-written character-driven sci-fi piece about being trapped in space. A lot of said characters follow tired archetypes a bit too much, but that's OK really.
This book was the first time I was introduced to the phrase "A thick English accent", and I can't work out what it's supposed to mean. (Thick accent should mean it's difficult to understand AND "Foreign"/non-native) I've seen this once or twice elsewhere since by American authors, so perhaps it's not Boffard's fault for using awkward phrasing.

This is a space survival story packed with tension. When a tourist hotel gets blown up by a mysterious ship, a group of tourists stuck on an outdated tour ship struggle to survive while the unknown enemy hunts them. While I wasn't completely convinced of the enemies' motivation or decisions, the tension in this book was top notch and this book had me on the edge of my seat so many times.

I'm torn about this book. The writing was amazing, the dialogue completely believable, it was full of exciting turns, I couldn't put it down. The character development was great, and I normally don't do well with changing POVs but it was seamlessly handled. I especially loved seeing a well-developed older lady character who's a *person* with skills and a whole life to live. I had a hard time putting this book down.
On the other hand, the book was darker than I like, with a great deal of adult content, including some that are deal-breakers for me if anything but minor. I don't have many people I can recommend this book to because of it. If not for the objectionable content, it'd be a permanent fixture in my personal library, and if not for how amazing the writing was, I wouldn't bother keeping it. Hence a confused 4-star rating for now.

Graphic: Alcoholism, Body horror, Cursing, Death, Panic attacks/disorders, Violence, Blood, Vomit, Murder, Fire/Fire injury, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Confinement, Sexual content, Torture, Alcohol
Minor: Emotional abuse, Infertility, Medical content, War, Pandemic/Epidemic
Lots of cursing from cr** to d**n to f*** and many in-between. One particularly vulgar case of blasphemy.
Racy SSA sexual content and relationship. Martial relations (some spicy) are mentioned.
Vivid panic attacks and alcoholism.
Lots of violence and bloodshed, including cold-blooded murder and excruciating after-effects of injuries. Several characters are pretty unpleasant people, with a minimal amount of redemption by the end.
Stuck in space, adrift, on a tour boat. It's ok, not super believable, but it gets from point A to B
