3 stars...this was just kinda so-so for me. Its short and that might be part of it, while we get a good look at Laine and his personality and a pretty decent view of Dev and even cole and caroline, I just didn't feel like it was deep enough or something. As a quick little read with some hot scenes it was good.
This is the first book in the With or Without series.
Note: It's M/M Romance!!
This ebook was recommended to me by Ozlem from the M/M Romance group in Goodreads for the Quarterly Gang Bang Challenge.
Devlin and his best friend are transferring himself and their business to a new town, thinking of joining the local pack. But things start on the wrong foot for Devlin with the pack's Alpha, while finding his mate in the most unexpected time.
Laine is the local pack's Omega, he gets in an akward situation and gets rescued by Devlin while uncontious. When he wakes up, he is surprised to find his mate watching him.
But the local Alpha is reluctant to let Lainey go, so it's up to Devlin to fight for his mate, which could be a fight for their lives. The problem is Lainey is an accident waiting to happen and insistant to help his mate.
This was such a fun book to read, the heroes are adorable, specially Lainey with his innocence and clumsiness. It was a treat.
I gave it 4 stars although I loved the story but the writing was a bit off at times :)
I have the next two books in the series in line to be read for this challenge.
NOTE: This books has explicit gay erotic scenes so beware :)
Quotes I enjoyed from this book:
"Fuck, I don't know what's sexier, you begging or your eyes shifting."

Well, despite many aspects that lacking in this story, I still give this story 3 stars just because of the existence of Lainey. Lack of thrill, lack of solution, and lack of anything else was thrown out of the window and ocmpensated fully with Laine's clumsiness and chirpy behaviour. His character--and Dev's--remind me of my OTP in Tsubasa Chronicle, Fai and Kurogane. Okay, I can't finished cackling up.
Interesting story with lots of steamy scenes. Would have liked a little more world building - Why did they have to move from Texas? Why did it seem like everyone knew about werewolves?
Lainey was a little ridiculous with how klutzy he was along with his sexual stamina. Dev was a little more rounded but we still didn't know much about him.

To be honest I'm not sure I would have continued the series if I had read this first.
It's a perfectly good shifter story, but there are also some things that bugged me.
Lanie's excessive orgasms were a bit too much. As was his clumsiness.
Some of the dialogue felt forced.
I didn't really feel anything for the characters.
I'm happy I didn't read this before the others, or I would probably have missed out.

This was one of the worst (if not THE worst) books I have ever read. And I'm not particularly picky, I can live with clumsy writing or some flaws in character development but this book was a mess.
The characters were completely stereotyped and only had a few characteristics and that's who they were. As flat as characters can be.
The writing was horrible, short sentences, repeating everything, explaining things that should have been explained through the characters' actions, hurrying through the story. It felt like the writer just wanted to get over it and squeeze every step into it, but didn't care about how it sounded afterwards.
I'm not going to go far into the "plot" because I'm not sure what the "plot" was.
Facit: Not recommending this to anyone and I can't believe someone actually published it. And I'm not used to writing harsh reviews because I always find some good aspects in books, but I guess this will be an exception.
I'm so glad I bought it as an E-Book and it was pretty cheap.

the only qualm i have about this was that it was so short! I also felt like the characters didn't have much time to adjust to each other and just jumped into the whole -we're mates forever- relationship. No problems or fierce antagonists in this plot at all. It was just unexciting to me.

It was a good start, but readers are just dumped into the scenario and there is little to no world building done. Ignoring that, it is a very humorous story, perfect for a beach read and quite sweet as well. Lainey is the clear winner in this book, and Dev is his perfect foil. I truly enjoyed seeing Lainey unstiffen Dev a bit. Again, a good book for the beach, but this reader wanted a lot more world building than what there was.
Loved this humorous light read. Would love to read more of Dev and Laine to see what other mischief Laine can manage to get himself into.
