It was a cute concept and I liked the characters but it was all just a bit too slow for me. I never really got into it sadly.

Very cheesy - a bit like a hallmark movie, but pleasant enough read.

It was good, but I didn’t finish. Kinda got bored of it quickly. I’m also in a bit of a reading slump so who knows

This had all the ingredients I was looking for; a fun elderly protagonist, a quaint English village, heck there was even a dog. It just didn’t hit the mark. The relationships could be more flushed out and the ending is predictable. It’s a heartwarming story, but I never found myself eager to pick up the book. Given how much I loved The No Show, a later publication, I'm happy to try her again!

This books was so boring but had funny elements. I like a book where something tragic happens in the middle, everything goes wrong and you can’t put it down and you need it to finish to find out how it’s all fixed. This book starts with the issue being exposed to the reader (she loses her job for two months- not tragic at all) and then the whole book is just following this tedious journey where the main character plods along each day, some good things happen, some bad, to then decide to quit her job and move houses- wow what a major twist!! (Not). So I was BORED, the three chapter cheating scandal was the only interesting part which was solved to easily. No twist, no turns, we knew that Boss was dodgy from the get go.
For a book that is quite boring, I managed to finish it. There’s no element of “omg what’s going to happen next” because all the main character is doing is going to a few meetings with her neighbours and creating a fun day for the village- there’s no element of surprise, twists, no climax etc.
I smiled a few times but that’s it.

this isn’t the sort of thing i usually read, but i had a silly fun time with this book and the audio narration (leena’s character was read by daisy edgar-jones) was great!
