Because I didn't HATE the first book, I continued. OMG.

Eve made stupid choices.

The love interests for Jane are both vile and controlling. I'm getting sick of the "two men fight to care for/save/protect woman" narrative, especially since most of the men in these narratives are complete garbage.

More deus ex machina. SO much more.

More characters introduced who don't seem vital to the plot- who is somehow even less believable than the Mammal Speaker, the Blood Whisperer, and the Angel/Demon Ghosts.

For example: Kendra. Kendra spent the first 20 years of her life blind, but stem cell therapy apparently restored her sight... OK. A little early to make that claim in a book from 2014, as even today this procedure was all still very much in the developmental stages, usually only done on mice, and RESTORED vision that had once existed in the subject. I saw one article that claimed two people with vision loss (it did NOT say blindness) were able to read the newspaper again after the therapy (which fine, I can also read without my glasses but cannot see the E at the top of the eye chart, so do with that info what you will), but another article also stated that 3 people got cancer from the treatments. But apparently this procedure worked well on Kendra. So well in fact that she can see things that people who have had their eyesight their entire life don't notice- faint impressions on a person's nose from glasses, dust, faint tan lines... Um, no. I will buy she is better with her other 4 senses due to the long term blindness, but the Sherlockian level of observation this woman had, mostly based on visual acuity- just NO. This book is getting two stars because this character ticked me off so much.

Its my first book of Eve Duncan series. Here’s my opinion..Love the starting but not so at the end as the plot seems to be ‘fairy-tale’ like all of a sudden.

First Thought when Finished: Hunting Eve gave me an ending that I never would have guessed!

Story Thoughts: One more book in the series y'all (she writes these in trilogies so even though it says this is book 17--you can start with Taking Eve Book 16 and not feel lost)! I am seriously jonesing to get my hands on it but I am going to try for a little restraint since it is on its way! If you are a fan of the series then I don't think you will be disappointed with Hunting Eve. Everything is coming together, things are happening, and the ending will leave you with your mouth hanging open. Iris knows her characters and what they will do in extreme situations. Needless to say that Hunting Eve was one big extreme situation that had everyone (and I do mean everyone) involved! I am on edge to see how it all plays out!

Character Thoughts: I love the characters in the Eve Duncan series and I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Here is what I think you need to know about them (in general): The characters all have "Fringe" abilities. They are normal people with extraordinary senses, abilities, or personalities. They sometimes play well with each other, sometimes they don't. They all came together in a very organic way and some of them are still building trust with each other. This truly is a group effort even though the series is "Eve Duncan". I happen to like them all and love how they accept their own talents but are always weary of others.

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Elisabeth Rodgers / Length: 10 hrs and 59 mins

I love Elisabeth's narration of this series. She really does "get" each character (there are a ton of them) and makes them each unique. Her pacing is really good too. Her male voices are pretty good and have grown on me through out the series. Overall, I highly recommend this series on audio. Please try a sample before buying as everyone has different tastes in narrators.

Final Thought: My ordered copy of Silencing Eve should be on the way soon. I can't wait to see how it all comes together!

Fascinating book, with really hateful cliffhangers. I'm really glad I waited until all three were out before I bought them. I loved it though, read it in one sitting. The author has the capability to have several different situations going on and clarity as they tie in ....in the end. Well written and I definitely will finish! Five stars on this one.

How many times can characters state in a book that they would do anything for Eve? Monotonous dialogue. Ten million side plots. Glad I didn't spend money on this.

Same thoughts as book one, and this book also felt like there were too many small details to remember all of them. Read in 2 hours, 24 minutes

Another cliff hanger. Everyone is hunting for Eve especially Doane. He captures her again and then the fire works start. Can't wait for the final book due in October
