As a fan of The Awkward Yeti’s webcomics, I was super excited to get an ARC of Heart and Brain: Gut Instincts from Netgalley. This collection features our favorite duo Heart and Brain, but also introduces a few new organs such as stomach, tongue, gallbladder, and eyes. Most of the comics revolve around Brain and Heart’s struggles to find balance between each of their natural desires. Brain of course is logical, neurotic, and seeking order in their shared life, while Heart is carefree, impulsive, and childlike in his motivations. We also get to see Tongue’s sinister antics that lead to abuse of Stomach and Bowels. I think what makes this collection so wonderful is its ability to ring true on so many topics we all struggle with (i.e. anxiety, adulting, dieting, ect.) while also eliciting a knowing giggle from the reader.

If you are a fan of The Awkward Yeti too, never fear! This collection features 60 brand new, never-been-seen comics. I recommend you give it a read. It’s great for a good laugh and a pick me up.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
