Es una novela basada en una historia real, de la propia madre de la autora. Trata sobre la violencia doméstica y nos pone en los zapatos de la víctima y nos abre los ojos sobre lo fácil que a veces se nos hace juzgar situaciones desde fuera. La novela deja un buen sabor de boca y una voz de aliento para las víctimas de este flagelo. Al final la nota de la autora resulta tan interesante como la narración.

There was nothing good about this book which leaves me puzzled why I finished it.....Writing was terrible, glorified domestic abuse. Just not good all around. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

WAARSCHUWING: Dit boek is zeer verslavend. Ik had hem elke vrije minuut in mijn handen. De combinatie van de “soepele” schrijfstijl, het aangrijpende verhaal en alle verschillende emoties maakt dit boek tot een groot succes. Echt een topper!

Ik vond echter wel dat de tijdsprongen soms te groot waren en dat veel dingen (te) vaak werden herhaald. Daarom maar 4 sterren.

One of those books there’s just no words for. The content was rough and I sobbed.
It was handled carefully in my opinion but hurt just the same. I’m glad for the ending and what I took away from it and how it correlates with my therapy regarding the issues at hand.
