Started this book by a new to me author on 30th Dec and finished it on new years eve. What a brilliant way to end the year.
Max is HOT and Damn but I wish I was Rory. The characters had depth, the storyline fast paced and detailed enough that my imagination went into overdrive.
I was so impressed by this by this book that I have already downloaded her other books. The only thing I would change about this book is that the word Trou was changed to maybe slacks or left as Trousers as I hate words that are shortened.

The book was not top notch but okay for a little in between read. It was pretty chaotic and all over the place (for my taste) and i could not really feel the chemistry between the couple.

Lange kein Buch mehr gelesen, wo He Fell First einfach anders ernst genommen würde. Junge, Junge …
Hätte da gerne mal ne POV von ihm gehabt :(

Don’t get me wrong, this was fun! It just was not that good.

To start, I guess I missed in the book description that they literally survived a PLANE CRASH, but then it’s kind of glossed over and barely brought up again? I feel like the whole book could actually be about that.

Rory, who actively does not want to work for her dad, complains like twice about it and then actually loves her job? We get almost no info on what she would rather do instead.

And maybe it’s just me, but I don’t enjoy it when sexual assault is used as a plot point. And this book used that quite a bit, not to our main characters, but in the background to describe how things got to this point. And while also describing how we should believe and support women, there is a false rape accusation…that was not necessary and honestly it really rubbed me the wrong way.

Max was fine, but he was all “big macho guy who will never settle down” energy and then he meets Rory and for literally no reason that switch flipped. Maybe it’s because we never got his perspective but it would have been great to get some information on why he felt that way. It was just a little jarring.

Max and Rory were cute together, although they also went 0 to 100 by the end.

I actually really enjoyed the first 75% or so of this book. But then like a whole additional book’s worth of plot points was shoved into the last 25% of this story and it moved so fast I had whiplash trying to keep up.

I also could see fairly early on that Max’s dad was a bad guy and likely played hockey under Rory’s dad. The foreshadowing was screaming. And I also figured out Baxter was the bad guy, but he was honestly kind of a caricature of a bad guy by the end. Just not believable in the slightest.

More of an editing note, but I counted at least two times where names were spelled wrong/changed (ie Ronnie instead of Ronny, and Helena instead of Helene).

The writing here was okay. It was pretty repetitive at times when describing actions, but I liked the banter between the characters. Sometimes the word choices were kind of strange. To be honest, I really expected more from the spicy scenes. I was a bit let down, especially when the whole premise is that they hook up the first time they meet.

Overall, a fun and quick read. I read the majority of this book in one sitting, and I’m open to reading more from this series and this author!

This book was absolutely wild from start to finish. There are like three separate events that are life-altering/traumatizing and end up being swept under the rug & NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN. Like ????? They literally all happen to the FMC and we’re supposed to believe she’s just not affected by any of them??? Wild.

I liked Max, but I felt like he wasn’t fully fleshed out as a character. He was supposed to fit the grumpy trope and then suddenly he’s being super cuddly and having a Britney Spears dance-off? It really just came out of nowhere and I feel like it didn’t fit with the rest of the story. It was just weird imo. None of the side characters were developed enough for me to have an opinion on them. Which is fine, not every story needs prominent side characters, but I just ended up not caring about any of them. Rory’s inability to stand up for herself near the end of the book had me actually enraged. When she’s trying to explain herself to her parents and they keep talking over her/ignoring her/belittling her and she just GIVES UP, I wanted to shake her. Those were the hardest couple chapters to get through, Rory knew how important it was for her to be heard by her parents/by everyone and she just was like “okay mom, i’ll drop it. love you.” like ??????? girl bye

This was a DNF for me. Can’t deal with a pushover heroine.
