I was sooo looking forward to this book! I loved the previous books in this series. I was hoping that I would love this book just as much. I found myself getting bored while reading. Just when you thought this book was finally going somewhere it didn't go anywhere. So much build up to nothing. I am hoping that this book was a set up for another book in the series. This book will leave you with a lot of questions and no answers. If there is another book I will definitely give it a try because I need closure!!

I feel like this book was more of the same as the ones before. I still enjoyed it, but it didn’t excite me because it was so predictable.
I feel that Julianne still doesn’t act as a woman of her age sometimes, which bothers me a little bit.

Este é o quarto livro da série “ O Inferno de Gabriel”. A história do professor Emerson conquistou o meu coração há cerca de 6 anos. Seria obrigatório, da minha parte, ler este “final”.
É preciso devorar todos os livros, bem como os da série Raven, para compreender e apreciar o enredo. No meu caso, a série Raven ainda está por ler, por isso foi um pouco confuso. Infelizmente, esta última obra, dececionou um pouco em relação ao fluxo da história. Aspeto que, nos três primeiros livros, estava presente. Os diálogos estavam um pouco forçados, apesar de ter sido muito bom voltar a rever as personagens e a sua história de amor.
Haviam algumas partes boas, mas alguma ação nem sequer foi resolvida no final…
Resumindo, dei por mim a apreciar a obra, mas apenas pela forma que o professor Gabriel Emerson ama e cuida da sua família. Falta um certo “je ne sais quoi”

I've been looking forward to Gabriel's Promise. First because I love this series, it's been years since I read it and last year I reread the books because there's a movie coming out so it made me kind of nostalgic about the series. And because I wanted to dive back into Professor Emerson and Julia's world.
That being said, unfortunately this book was lukewarm at best. I enjoyed the first half because I was eager to dive back in but soon it became clear that it had nothing new to offer. The Emerson's have a new baby, they each have their academic aspirations and life is just fine. Day in and day out is just them, and the baby, and academic stuff. It's good, but when you come back after years, it's not enough.
I'm sure there's going to be more to come, so this is probably an appetizer so to say, a teaser and a reminder of where things left off. As a far, this was an okay read, depending on how long ago you read the series.

El autor retoma la historia varios años después, como yo los leí todos juntos no sentí que me afectara. Pero me parece que, a diferencia de los primeros, en este libro se prevee una secuela porque quedan varios asuntos inconclusos como la mudanza a Edimburgo y el misterio de la estatua y de quién los está acosando...
Después de mucha insistencia me decidí por leer la saga "el infierno de Gabriel" en muchos sentidos terminé sorprendida, la primera vez que me recomendaron la saga fue en el 2014/2015 pero la idea de un romance entre profesor/alumno jamás me llamó la atención, no fue hasta hace un mes que finalmente descubrí que la historia va más allá de un simple romance "prohibido". La historia me ha encantado, adoré a los personajes, sin duda uno de los mejores aspectos que tiene esta historia es la humanización de sus personajes principales. Estamos tan acostumbrados a los típicos protagonistas hermosos, millonarios con problemas tan banales, que fue tan refrescante encontrar que tanto Gabriel como Julia eran personas con pasados crueles llenos de maltrato infantil, problemas de abandono, relaciones tóxicas y problemas de abuso de sustancias. A través de los primeros libros vemos cómo su relación evoluciona y cómo logran superar dichos traumas. A demás durante toda la historia se hace mención de la obra de Dante Alighieri lo cual resulta muuuuy interesante. Al final del libro 3, se puede sobreentender que la llegada de Clare fue la redención de Gabriel. El cuarto libro no lo sentí necesario, IMO es más un libro de relleno, no siento que aporte nada más a la historia de los Emerson, solo da pie a el surgimiento de otra historia. En general a la saga completa me atrevo a darle un 3.8⭐ y a este libro un 3.0 porque aunque leer más sobre los Emerson me dio mucha alegría, la trama no fue tan buena como para extenderla un libro más.
