this book felt way too long and repetitive. the characters were all one-dimensional and there was a lot more telling than showing. i feel like i never fully understood why virginia was described as immensely charismatic and why laura was that obsessed with her. there were too many messy plotlines and i never connected to the characters. plus, there was hardly any boarding school atmosphere! i'm hoping that social creature is better, because this one was a letdown :(
the characters are not resonating with me... wish I made it to the murdery part but it wasn't meant to be 😔
This reminded me a lot of the dynamic between Anne Perry and Pauline Parker when they committed the heinous murder in NZ. Fascinating character studies + exploration of obsessive friendship (verging on more) and a kind of shared delusion between multiple characters.
