I loved Max in the other books. Somehow, in his own book though, he came off kind of douchey. I know he was closeted but he treated Patrick horribly. He went from this guy I respected in the other 2 books to someone I didnt want to read about anymore. Thank God the book was short.

So I did really like this book, but there were a couple of really big issues I had with Patrick.
A) He agrees to respect that Max is in the closet and doesn't want anyone knowing he's gay (agree or disagree, that's his right) and then like two seconds later both ignores this by showing up at his birthday party uninvited and also throws a hissy fit about being kept a secret (which would've been fine had more time passed, but it's literally like a month later.) Oh and he also doesn't bother to tell Max that 2 people know about them, including one of Max's employees (now it was fine and she respected the secret but Max had a right to know) And B) this is the major one. Max doesn't bottom. He tells this to Patrick in no uncertain terms. There's no maybe. Then Patrick tries to get him to by using his finger near Max's bottom. Max says NO again. Patrick tries one more time. And Max rightfully flips the heck out. Kicks Patrick out. Then Max ends up apologizing more than Patrick. NOPE. Should be the other way around. Patrick should've groveled. Was not okay at all.
All that said I still liked Patrick, I just didn't like how those two things were handled. Max was great I've looked forward to this book since Book 1, and it didn't really disappoint.
