This standalone novel is a great, well written story that is something different to a lot of other contemporary romance at the moment. The story got off to such a strong start that it immediately had me engaged, and while Nick’s secret isn’t entirely a surprise it’s paced very nicely. However, once the story changes location I struggled. Maddy turned into such an arrogant American abroad, critical and derogatory of anything done differently that I really wondered why Nick persevered.
