This book was fun - very Jane Austen. Her plots of course tend to be very similar; all revolve around romances that seem doomed only to find their way in the end. (At least, all that I've read of hers, anyway - which I believe are most.) It's interesting to read of England in her time from her privileged point of view - the issues that her characters dealt with being somewhat, er, fluffy. But it was a good story, and enjoyable to listen to while working - it made the time pass quickly. I did very much like how Austen really makes those intelligent, spunky, literate women the heroines - and those who could care a whit for books tend to be the silly, mocked characters who end up married well enough, but who don't win the man of the protagonist's dreams.
All in all, a good time, I'd say. Just expect Austen, and you won't be disappointed.

Una historia aburrida y predecible, destaca una crítica a la sociedad de la época en la que se veían las relaciones acordes al beneficio que estas aportaran a la mujer.

“No reference to examples in books. Men have had every advantage over us in telling us their own story. Education has been theirs in so much higher a degree; the pen has been in their hands. I will not allow books to prove anything.”
Jane Austen, the woman that you were.
Easily the most impactful and, for me, most well-written of Austen’s works. A critique on society, feminist way ahead of its time, it was quite a pleasure to read. It’s mature, as it was her last work, and it does bleed into her writing, both in style and choice of words.
From now on, if I am asked what historical figure I wish I could have met, I might just consider Jane.

Comical, romantic, feminist for the time. It was so fun to read although I had to read along to an audiobook sometimes because of the super long run-on sentences. I thoroughly enjoyed the forced proximity and second chance trope. Historical romance is definitely in my top 3 and I can’t wait to read more by Austen.

Absolute perfection. Are we surprised? No.
After reading three terrible summer romance novels in a row (why do I do this to myself?), I decided to cleanse my brain with good writing and a proper romance.
THIS is how you write a love story, folks.

"You Pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago."
Honestly that letter alone is 5 stars but.... the rest was okay even good at times just not great
