I'm not sure how I feel about this. It was a roller coaster and I think I have whiplash. I dislike 3 main things:
First off, this would've been way more enjoyable as an audiobook but I couldn't find one. It's pretty long which means that it was a bit too long for me in this form but as an audiobook I think the longer form could have done really really well.
Second, I hate the 4th wall breaking talking-to-the-reader thing so so much.
Third, there are far too many characters. I'm supposed to remember 3 big families plus 3 or 4 security teams full of people. It's too much. I couldn't keep names, ages, details, or relationships straight.
I absolutely loved the constant attention to how female celebrities deal with far more misogyny than male celebrities and how young girl celebrities are sexualized and harassed as literal children.
The catalyst for Farrow and Maximoff coming out is something that I think is going to make a lot of people angry but I thought it was a clever twist on the trope that made it far more interesting. a rumor gets started that Maximoff and Jane are having an incestuous cousin love affair which is false. Their families, however, think they are lying to save themselves and possibly think Maximoff is forcing Jane. It's heartbreaking to watch him and Jane be so devastated by this and be hesitant to interact afterwards. This then forces Farrow and Maximoff to out themselves as dating because they're trying to prove that the love bites Maximoff has been sporting for a few weeks are actually Farrow's fault, not Jane's. I finished this book being livid at the family members for not believing their kids when they say they aren't having sex. I'm hoping this all get resolved in the next book.

5 out of 5 ☆’s.
“I'm watched and observed all the time. By strangers. By cameramen. By people. And never, never have I come undone. Until now, until his eyes feel like hands, and I want them all over me.”

I’m so happy that I took the time to reread this masterpiece! I missed Moffy + Farrow so much & going back to where it all began for them made me nostalgic. :’)
