Quite an interesting read. VERY short - I got through this in one sitting, which surprised me, but the text moves along at a fast pace, without a great deal of excessive detail. I always wonder if something is lost in translation, but the language is tight and seems fairly consistent throughout. Honestly I was a bit confused by the ending at first, and had to go back and read the last few pages a second time, ultimately finding it somewhat unsatisfying. I'm definitely not someone who needs everything wrapped up in a pretty bow at the end (which is probably why I love "No Country for Old Men" so much) but there was just something about how this one ended up that left a bad taste in my mouth. This is the first piece of work by Nesbo that I've read, so I'll try to track down more and see how it compares.

This might be one of the worst books I've ever read. It was so predictable and the character dont even make sense. Jo Nesbø, commit to your characters. If you want to make him the Forrest Gump type, dont make him read a Victor Hugo book...

I haven't read any Jo Nesbo before (or any Scandi-Noir for that matter.....) and I was pleasantly surprised.

I was looking for a short page-turner and I got it! Very concise and spare and, in places, darkly humorous. The descriptions of the weather, in particular, the snow, made me feel cold as I read, or was it just the impending threat ......

I read it in a day, easily, looking forward to reading the sequel novella that concludes the story.
